Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S Thompson - RIP

Is it just me or is VS broken after the last update?

I've noticed flakiness related to this. But it hasn't blocked me from using it, if that's what you mean.

I think he was asking if there was a problem with the Visual Studio IDE, not the online services.

Yes. Since last update VS tends to forget login, and ask for it every half an hour or so...

I think MS breaks something after every update...

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?
Help me to understand what I'm saying, and I'll explain it better to you
Rating helpful answers is nice, but saying thanks can be even nicer.

I wonder if it is because...
Visual Studio 2022 uses WebView2 (web browser control) as the "connection point".
And possibly the WebView2 times out every 20 minutes (like a web browser session).
That sounds plausible & likely fail for devs who use controls but don't consider all that they do.
Also, someone else has mentioned this & posted at StackOverflow[^].

For extra credit: Does this happen in other bases? All bases? What are the required conditions?
Example:
In base 7, does 0.012346... x (some integer power) == 1?

Looks like you've added an extra 0 after the decimal point.
Either that, or you started with 1 rather than 10 .

is there any good diff tool to recommend?

I've used Windiff and was fairly happy with it. You can find free downloads online.
Now that GitHub is integrated with Visual Studio, I just use that to look at diffs. If I had to diff something that wasn't in my repository, I'd probably add the first version of it to the repository, stage it, then add the second version, look at the diff, and later remove them from the repository. Or use Windiff.
