It is indeed NaOH, but it's in a gel suspension, which makes it a lot easier to use. And having burnt myself as a child with the crystalline form - my mother used it for unblocking sinks - I'd rather work with a "sticky paste" than the dissolved form! It's not that much more expensive this way, and it helps keep it on the mesh basket

After reading this my muscles hurt.. I do 2000 m in walking and sometimes I manage it in 15 minutes. Average is 20 so.. Should try the rowing once, since my knees are not so good for walking.

I walk quite quickly, it takes a little over ten minutes to the edge of town and that's around 1500m. I used to row, back in the dark distance, for my upper body strength for rugby, but I haven't done any for maybe 20 years. DD can confirm that I'm not a big guy, but despite 30+ years of smoking I was always in reasonable shape. Now I want to keep it that way as I head towards my 50's.

I have a problem with my knees since birth (bones not fitting in the correct way), so walking is not so much in for me.. I did ski alot when younger so, the doctors allways wondered how I did manage that.

My knees are totally Parised after a lot of skating and then rugger when I was younger. I can't run too far and even walking can sometimes cause stress. Rowing is, allegedly, no impact and I enjoy it.

I once had a test ride on one of these[^] when they first came into the UK in the 70s. It was a brute of a bike in its day.
For touring it had to be one of these[^] and was the first bike I bought after passing my test.
After selling the R90S I bought one of the first of these[^] when they came to the UK. BMW at Park Lane drove me to their predelivery centre at Hounslow to collect it and have my mugshot with the bike published in their in-house magazine.
Finally, I spent a while travelling around north Africa for three months on my BMW with a mate of mine who owned one of these[^].
I've never had a bike since then. I miss them.

Auntie has a timelapse video[^] of it being raised upright. You have to admit, it's an impressive bit of engineering but my word, the cost of the salvage is eye-popping and it's not over yet. I hope the subrogation rights are more watertight than the ship was.
Was it true that Cap'n Coward Francesco Schettino stood alongside dangling the bridge key and said (Italian accent inserted) "Itser okay, I taker her back now."

Why can I see Ebay in a few weeks time "Cruise Slightly Used", I think it has got to be broken up for scrap but the cost of it! (some thing like 50 Million £) to salvage it? Glad I'm not a Lloyds name!

That's what I can't work out. Who is picking up the tab for it? It can't be the Italian government as they don't have that much money in the country?
The scrap value is disproportionate to the salvage cost. I can see a spin off in TV documentaries but that won't make that much in comparison. Add a bit for those Christmassy snow scenes in a bubble, the ones you shake, possibly some Schettino cuddly toys, some new coffee on the menu at Costa called Concordia In A Cup, should pull in a few quid more.
If it was insured at Lloyds did they ring the Lutine bell?

Good point, the cost I think must be met by the insurers (or the re-insurers or the re-re-insurers) my flatmate used to contract for re-insurer and he explained it to me as the insurance company has a limit (an excess if you will) if exceeds that the re-insurer who has a bigger excess takes the hit if it's outside of their excess and so on until reaches Llyods in the end.

I think you're partly right. I believe the scrap value is worth about £50m.
