I strongly recommend you change your username - it makes you look like a spammer!

That or Singapore Car Plates's parents were just mean.
I’ve given up trying to be calm. However, I am open to feeling slightly less agitated.

I like the name as long as he doesn’t start spamming the place.
Then we would have wall-to-wall car plating!
If you can't laugh at yourself - ask me and I will do it for you.

I haven’t received a Daily News newsletter email since last Friday. I just took a look at my subscriptions and didn’t see it listed. Did CodeProject discontinue it? I looked forward to reading it every morning.

Oh ! I awarded him that ages ago - at least he has an excuse living in a different time zone - mine was unadulterated ineptitude

Looks like you have an incomplete download, there must be many packages missing, check your connection.

I remember a contract I had in the early nineties where I had to download banking data from mainframe tapes onto a pc, we had to buy a large scsi disk ( probably 1gb I can't remember) to store it on - the cost was eye watering even then.

When I first started as a mainframe operator in the 60s we did not have network or even modem communication. We had to exchange data between our two centres (Manchester & Hemel Hempstead) on physical media. So every night we would dump a load of data on a set of magnetic tapes, put the tapes in a taxi and send them on their way. The other centre did the same, and the taxis met somewhere around Birmingham, and exchanged cargoes. They would then drive back to their respective centres and hand us the new tapes for processing. All in all, a brilliant solution.

I'm not sure our taxis actually hurtled back in those days, more a sedate progress.

Ah, yes; the FedEx (taxi) transfer. This is still the single highest bandwidth data transfer mechanism available, although with last mile internet speeds increasing this might not be true much longer.
