It's not good news, thats for certain: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-24182038[^]
"Blackberry has announced it is planning to cut 4,500 jobs, or 40% of its worldwide workforce, in an attempt to staunch huge losses.
The smartphone maker said it anticipated a loss of as much as $995m (£621m) when it reports its second-quarter earnings next week."
If it had reacted quicker when it's systems went down a couple of years ago...and then it releases a phone it looks like nobody wants.
This week, the company released a new version of its handset, the Z30, which was praised by observers but was nonetheless overshadowed by Apple's launch of its new smartphone products.
"It's not a bad phone," ... "I'm sure they'll sell at least one."
Ouch!

We got BB fanatics here... by my side
I expect the numbers to be much larger.

I still think they were the best phones for business. I had two of them and I liked them.

The problem is not the product.

It's the competition.
I had to get a Blackberry at work. I forwarded the number to my Droid and turned it off.

I think the use of past tense kinda says it all, really.

I know, the last one I had didn't have Wi-Fi and it had a *push* screen - what were they thinking of ?

They did same as Microsoft, at-least Microsoft woke up from the deep sleep. Both the companies were dominating in the business phone space. And they did nothing and just watched Apple and Google grow from the ground up. And when they realized, they were almost out of the race.
Blackberry had decent hardware in the past, but the software was lacking in terms of UI/UX. And when they fixed the software part with Blackberry OS6, their hardware was lagging behind. And now when they are trying to play catch-up it's too late.
IMO, Blackberry Bold still looks way cooler than iPhone or Galaxy ### in the business meeting.
I am still hoping for a miracle from them (just like Windows Phone), and I will still buy next-gen Blackberry Bold. (I need a phone with a damn keyboard! - I mean real keys)

I hate to say this, but...I wouldn't. What's the chances that the company will still exist in 6 months time? A year? You could well be throwing your money away on an expensive paper-weight. (Mind you, just suggesting that you shouldn't buy it probably reduces the chances that they will be there in a years time, so...)

No, I will buy it after their magical comeback, which I am still hoping.
But I agree the chances are very thin.

My wife chose a Samsung Stratosphere (?) for that reason.

My wife has just upgraded her iPhone and it instantly makes you realise how crap it was before. Now it looks a lot more like my Windows Phone. Apple are learning it seems..

You've just made a big mistake:
Here in CP the CPians don't like to receive programming questions into the lounge, as you will be able to read just at the Lounge page top, to ask programming questions you have to use the programming forums...
Therefore, and before starting to receive attacks from everywhere, delete your post and replace it to the right place:
http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/ask.aspx[^]
or in the right one here: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Forums/List.aspx[^]
You will receive help if you follow the rules and if you make a clear question. Explain what you've tried, a small code block, clearly where are you stuck and what you need.
Good luck!

He's not asking for the code but for articles, web sites or how-to's on converting stuff using Java.
I reckon he's OK putting what he has here in the Lounge.

My Surface Pro compiled a C++ project faster than my monster desktop!!!

This post is about MS Surface Pro ?
I'm planning to build my own Monster . I'll be here soon with my own brag.
Starting to think people post kid pics in their profiles because that was the last time they were cute - Jeremy.

Haha... I forgot to mention my monster has 12GB of RAM!
I know it's nothing to brag about, but it's the first time I got more than 4GB!
Mm... maybe this was about my SurfacePro AND my monster desktop!! ^^
Common, bring it on!
