I'm kind of new to web developement.
OK I have a good JavaScript base and did my website in WebForm in 200x (2004?) and again in MVC4, 3 months ago.
That's about it.
Now I spend (only) 5 working day to learn and put together a prototype / demo app using TypeScript and KnockoutJS.
All code together is 160 (.chstml), + 197 + 26 + 182 (.ts) lines of code
(no code in my controller, it's just a demo / show case / prototype)
The UI is nice it has multiple interactive list with properties (their value can be nested) and a preview area below.
5 works days ago I knew nothing of TypeScript and KnockoutJS.
Now I show it to some people and I heard the comment 'there is a learning curve'
They all agree it looks impressive but... hard to implement (as in none of them think they can do it in just 5 days and/or 500 lines)
Disappointing...
Anyway, will see what the project manager, from a user perspective, prefers, I hope she like my demo, she is back from holiday + sick days tomorrow!
And I will work on non confrontational convincing skills as in:
1. doesn't it looks good?
2. I think it's a better proposition for every one to maintain a code which is much shorter and naturally less spaghetti (thank you MVVM) (not too mention faster to develop and with more functionality)
Anyhow, might write a TypeScript / KnockoutJS article soon one the upcoming weekend...
(except I'm in the middle of moving house, busy busy..)

Take solace in the fact that, out of 300,000 complaints about cr@ppy service, cr@ppy facilities, and cr@ppy holidays in general, they managed to find a dozen or so that were unjustified.

That's the HTML character codes needed to create the symbols in my sig.
The rest is just plain text.

BBC to promote programming again![^]
I don't know if I would be working in IT if it wasn't for the BBC Micro, so I have a fondness for the idea...
Now if the BBC could get a programming device developed - maybe a BBC-Pad - aimed at being easy to program ...

I learned about the BBC Micro from that article. Looks like it was a nifty machine!

It certainly was!
From it grew the Archimedes and the ARM chips which dominate the mobile market today.
For a bit of funb, you can get a BBC emulator here[^] then download my game, PooperPig here[^]
Then marvel over how poor games were back then! (PooperPig was No. 1 in the Ceefax Download Charts)

Ceefax Download? I remember there being some short listings on Ceefax and could remember our teacher (?) hooking up a BBC to a Ceefax tv, don't remember a modem being used...my class mates now don't remember this, was it possible?

So I do remember correctly...

Yes, it felt like it was way ahead of the field in its day(even ahead of the speccy in my opinionated opinion ) - I learnt to program Pascal on it and it was a solid piece of kit.
