My old buddy Jack and Cuervo where my close friend for many a year, I still pull an occasional all nighter but had to say bye-bye to my buddies.

I can't remember the last time I drank a bottle of JD.
I may not last forever but the mess I leave behind certainly will.

Ditto it's been MANY years!

Me neither, but judging by the empty bottle I woke up with it was last night.

Quote: has concluded that the high levels of Vitamin B3 (known as niacin) in this meat could help you live longer. Great. Now if only they can get rid of the stuff in bacon that kills you then it could help you live longer.

At first scan of the title, missed the word 'live'.

From the article: niacin "tricks the body into believing that it is exercising," perfect for any particularly lazy individual.
Now there's a make believe exercise regimen I might be able to stick with!

Consuming too much of anything will shorten your lifespan. Eating things you enjoy as long as it is enjoyed in moderation will extend your life IE: happy people live longer.
I hear the last years are kind of a drag anyway. Pooping your pants, drooling and wagging your head uncontrollably just doesn’t appeal to me, please pass the bacon.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

It's not actually the bacon - it's the hickory smoke and various aromatic and aliphatic condensates that are acting as preservatives.
Suspicion the same effect may be noticeable when eating massive amounts of dill pickles and/or Velveeta.

Unfortunately, when I read about the study, I found it was done with roundworms. Last time I checked, I wasn't a roundworm.
I bet roundworms love sun-dried tomatoes and hate bacon!

I am sure that next study will say something differently, just like coffee, bad, good, bad, good.....

Junk science. First, the study wasn't done on humans or even mammals. Second, they just added ONE NUTRIENT that happens to also be present in bacon.
In contrast, decades of research show a diet high in saturated fat contributes to a number of diseases including heart attack and stroke.

Ah, yes -- this supports what I have long suspected: the "3C" food group (Caffeine, Cholesterol, Cigarettes) is not only essential for the well-being of a programmer, but is generally beneficial overall. Of course, extended use of 3C can lead to the Big C...

This is a blog post so it's not well visible on CP but the tip is really useful for Tortoise SVN users: TortoiseSVN pre-commit hook in C# - Save yourself some troubles![^]
Sometimes there's no other way to do the job than to have some some temporary change in code which should never get into repository. You think you will remember not to commit it, right?

Interestingly, I have an Outlook rule that keeps my mail one minute in my Outbox before sending it, so basically it is the same idea but for the Email world.
This can be overruled by categorizing the email in case I want to quickly send something to someone.
And this rule saved me an invaluable amount of time.

Nice idea! How do you set it up?
|
|

Using an Outlook rule[^], which basically says: After sending an email, keep it in the outbox for one minute, unless it was assigned the category "Immediately". The wizard helps you setting up that rule properly. Of course, you have to create/rename the category "Immediately" ( or whatever the name you chose).
To ignore the rule, simplay change the category of an email to "Immediately" before sending it (Options->Category).

interesting idea; but to be useful for most of my coding I'd need an AnkhSvn hook.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
