Three questions....
1) Anyone play this game?[^]? It used to be playable on GameSpy, but it's been discontinued there. Anyone interested in playing?
2) What would it take to set up a server to host games?
3) I have thought about re-writing it, just for my personal use. I know I can write the code, but I'm clueless about how to do the UI/graphics? What's involved in this?

Kevin,
I often play A&A on www.GamesByEmail.com. (Not sure how it compares to other sites, as it is the only site on which I've played the game). The games on this site are unrushed - maybe get in a couple of moves at home in the evening, and more on the weekend. The games can take several days to several weeks to complete.
If you want to play a game in a single session, you'd best try other sites (googling revealed lots of sites complete with rankings).
Care for a game? Just go to GamesByEmail, start a game, and send me an invite. If you know any other players - invite them too. I find the 3 or 4 player games to be the most entertaining.

How does that work? You get an email? Can you explain?

You give your e-mail address to start a game, and either invite others directly to join (by entering the invitees e-mail address) or leaving the game open for anyone to join.
You can view the game anytime while it is in play, and you receive a notification e-mail when it is your turn.
Lots of games on the site - a wonderful place to waste time. I highly recommend it.

I should point out that other players DO NOT see your e-mail address. They only see whatever name you enter for that game.

I see.
That sounds like the older version of A&A. The version I posted in the link doesn't have turns. Everyone plays at once.

Don't worry, most of being a techie is bacon. That and CListCtrl.

And coffee. Don't forget the coffee.

That is but the raw ingredient for the process.

I just went to Lisa's post and reflex took me to the bottom right side rather than the top left...

If that's true I should start spewing out code any minute. I eat bacon and coffee as a staple.

Coffee is the glue that binds Bacon and CListCtrl.

Pizza and Jack Daniels is for all-nighter coding sessions. I don't do them any more!
