I like Windows, but I also like *nix systems. I know of three Unix-style systems for Windows:
* Msys
* Msys2 - My Favorite
* Cygwin
Msys2 is my favorite as is has the latest versions of most packages, and works with Win32 paths by default. It is also more complete than Msys, including things like OpenSSH, GPG, Python (2.7 and 3.3), and Ruby (2.0.0-p353). It also has a number of packages and a port of the pacman package manager.
Msys2[^]

That link doesn't lead to much information. Do you have a better link?

Unix for Windows...
Isn't that a bit like racing tires for a Volkswagen?

That would be entirely appropriate on for example a Golf VR6 which would make an excellent track day car.

The "amateur" sleuthing for the Mandela signer had me chuckling though, especially "Big fish, little fish, cardboard box". Source[^].

Even funnier is that the owners of the company he was sub-contracted through disappeared when the story broke about his fraudulent signing. Fraud? S'Effrica? Who'd have thunked it?

Nice pic that. You could get a high resolution version and blow that up to a landscape poster size!

My domains are slated for renewal.
I want to get some ideas from those who regularly deal with this kind of stuff.
I found this place here on code project. . . . Hosting and Servers[^]
Is that the group where I should ask serious questions about domain name registration ? For the immediate moment in front of me, my upcoming renewals are commanding my thoughts.
Is there another group here on CodeProject where this is better discussed ? (Is this a lounge topic ?)
I welcome other suggestions of other websites where the these sorts of experts congregate.
Minor Note: Comments that suggest asking any internet search site will be summarily ignored.

I use to use UK2.net, put then many years ago switched over to 1and1. I switched to them because of their hosting packages, then moved up to virtual server etc.
Never had any problem with them.

My thoughts at this moment are that I should have a separate host and a separate registrar.
The idea of being legally responsible to only one party, and that party having such a strong influence of both the hosting and the registration; that's just too creepy for me at this moment.

Clicked, looked, saw everything about hosting, nothing about registration.
Evidently, the money is this biz comes from hosting, not registering, not renewing.

I look after an organisation that is registered through Newnet. The other one is actually registered through http://www.lcn.com/[^], (not EUK) sorry about that. Most of these companies do web hosting as their main business and registration as a side issue. Whether you do everything through one organisation or split between two is your (free) choice.

Interesting idea; renewing with a company outside the USA.
Others who have done that; please post your personal experience.
