I'm just learning Python and I've got to say I really like it but I still think C would be a good first language to learn because of all the embedded system out there and coming?

"Python, because you do not need a compiler and it's very VERY easy to run your programs and test"
Just how difficult do these people find it to press F5?
I assume they mean "You can type any old rubbish and it'll do something anyway" as opposed to the difficulty of actually having to make it understandable to the machine in some way?

Hmm, isn't that grow a generation of Script Kiddies, Python I have played with a bit, given my
love(?) of languages that do something no matter what (VB) is it such a good idea, really???
The first programming language I felt 'happy' with was C, though I had lots of BBC Basic, AMOS & C64 Basic/Assembly experience...

Link doesn't work for me ... and Tiobe[^] has c at the top of the list ... and Ruby appears to be heading in the right direction ...

I say that the 'results' of the article are meaningless given the collection methodology.
As far as teaching languages, as far I have seen, C hasn't been up there for years, perhaps decades. Not in the US at least.
Following is the only thing I use for language popularity.

The last few days have seen some pretty spectacular images on the site and I think this one certainly qualifies. Enjoy.

Which is why MSNBC is 'news' for the stupids - Larry Elder [^] calls them MSNB-Hee-Haw - think he has it right.

There was a piece on the home service this morning and it surprised me how many songs I didn't know were his, were his.

NO !
Pete Seeger was never a part of Peter, Paul, and Mary (Peter Yarrow is that Peter).
They did play some of his work - as did/do so many others.

A couple of years ago, the Beeb showed Bruce Springsteen's "Seeger Sessions" documentary. Featured were some 12 or so other musicians playing traditional songs as well as some of Seeger's own. It was fine music played by skilled musicians. Very enjoyable.

A group of men and women were visiting the Niagara falls. The ladies were busy talking among themselves and the guide welcomed them "I welcome you all to the Niagara Falls, the World's largest waterfalls. The sound intensity of the falls is so high that even if 20 supersonic planes pass by together, you wouldn't hear their noise."
One of the men turns to the women and says "Now ladies! Will you please keep quiet so that we can hear the Niagara Falls?"
