Back in the early '90s, the company I worked out found out a competitor was bringing out a new product. They wanted to beat them to market.
I was asked if I could retrofit the system I supported to be able to able to make a new product and thereby beat the competitors to market... in 2 weeks.
I said, yes, it will require many extra hours, but, if I complete it, I want to attend an upcoming conference.
It was winter in Ontario and the conference was in San Francisco... nice climate change!
I busted my butt, completed and work and attended the conference. 20+ years later, I am working on the system the conference was for... worked out well for me.
