I think the Spitties and GT6s are getting rare - Triumph doesn't seem to have the following MG has. Plus classic car prices rise in a recession for some reason.
Have ever driven an TR7? I have no clue how they handle.

Was a passenger in a TR7 - to be honest it wasn't very exciting as the exhaust note is not great and the cabin/seating position doesn't feel as ridiculously close to the road as a Spit or GT6.
That is why they are so very cheap!

You do realise that a £2K MGB is probably going to cost you a fortune?
They weren't exactly reliable when new, and dealers don't sell 'em cheap for no good reason...

Not necessarily, when it comes to classic cars the normal dealers can be useless, the evidence here is the much more realistic price being asked by the second dealer. Looks very like I missed a bargain. Also, if you're prepared to do the work then they're not prohibitive to run.

I think he means a fortune to maintain. MGs aren't known for their reliability.

My toy car is MG engined. It has always been very reliable and to date the only problems have been stones puncturing the radiator and a blown head gasket - the original '64 gasket by the looks of it.

The first two chapters of my book Object-Oriented JavaScript are available as a kindle book at :
Object-Oriented JavaScript ~Newton Saber[^]
Diagrams and Old C/C++
I have created numerous diagrams of JS objects in memory and I explain what is going on more like books used to do in the old C/C++ days. I hope you find it interesting.
If You Get The Free Book
If you decide to get the free book you'll get the updates -- as I write them and release them to amazon -- for free too.
Note: It's only available for free thru 12am PST 03/28/2014. It's an Amazon.com thing.
In Case You Think This Is Spam
1. I've written numerous articles here and have been a part of the community -- I'm not just a 'bot rolling by injecting this crap.
2. I also checked the lounge rules for this type of thing and it seems okay.
3. Above all, I am only announcing because the book is free (until 12am PST 3/28/2014). If it cost you anything I wouldn't post here.
The biggest reason I wanted to post this is because I really think I'm explaining some JavaScript concepts in a new different way and thought those in the community who are interested in JavaScript might find it interesting.
Thanks,
~Newton

Interesting looking book. I started on it using the Cloud Kindle Reader - which is cool since I don't own a Kindle right now. Thanks for this.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

Voted as spam.

So, reading between the lines, I believe you are saying that you read my book and really enjoyed it.
Am I getting that right?
Also, I read your article and upvoted it. (Getting the Place Name that Goes with a Zip Code[^])

Rather doubt it is in fact spam, certainly not the normal definition.
However the forums rules also forbid "any advertising,"

I appreciate everyone being so nice here at codeproject. I always find a good community here and I appreciate your feedback. I do plan on writing more articles -- I've got two in the pipe -- exclusively for coderoject. My point is that I always try to support codeproject and I plan to continue doing so as I can.
Honestly, for the material on Object-Oriented JS I just thought it would be extremely long and would be better in ebook format.
Thanks again.

I'm afraid Amazon have just moved you to spam category. It now costs $3.07. Not a lot, I grant you, but it is still paid for.

Does your book cover the ES6 specification?
|
|
|
|
|
Thanks for asking and for your interest.
My book takes a simpler approach to it, by attempting to describe object-oriented JavaScript as it is now implemented in current HTML5 supporting browsers.
I know that is a somewhat limited answer so I hope it doesn't annoy you.
So, specifically, I would say I do not cover the ES6 spec.
Thanks again,
~Newton
