Hopefully you're using a fake name for this, unless you don't care if your employer sees it.

Nine years with my current company. I've seen it go from 40 people sitting at a large bench in a single room to 200+ people in a six story office building. It's had ups and downs and it wouldn't be my first choice of industry but the single thing that makes this job stand out is that the company is highly profitable.
That translates to perks, bonuses, a very positive environment and long term retention of the really good people.

Mars Red and Spica Blue [^]
Not quite as spectacular as some of the images presented; nevertheless, the view, itself, is breathtaking.

Mark, thanks so much for this fascinating series of posts; I've come to look forward to seeing a photo every day. I really like the photo of Mars and Spica against background of (winter-time ?) trees; in fact, I've written to the photographer asking him for a quote on licensing the picture on a web-site.

Do you suppose that's a "long" exposure? A few dozen seconds or so (otherwise there'd be "trails")? Otherwise how'd the photog get the brightness?

Was that not an amusing post? I could have said "He used ISO 1 million". Would that have been better?
Or are you just suffering a humor bypass?
Don't answer that: my wife would insist that it was me that was having the bypass...

My wife too. It was a sideways remark at your sideways answer. Here - - does that make it clearerer?

Try short exposure, wide aperture, high ISO. I would say that exposure was shorter than expectant but the lens were most likely F2 and ISO at 1000+-

How about imagestacking?
In Astrophotography you see a lot of pictures that are stacks of 70-90(including dark frames) pics all taken at max aperture, regular iso and exposure time about 10 sec or less.
There are some good programms you can use to stack images including some that allow you to track stars and compensate for the earthrotation in these stacks.
Hmm i wonder why its doing that......ARGHS NO STOP, ROLLBACK ROLLBACK...F*** That's how i learned to "Always Backup"!!

This is highly likely but still skill needed

Been a long time since I was in the game but one that intrigued me a lot in general sense was Lightroom

Thanks! I'll have to give that a look.

That photo had a sense of beauty and a slight eeriness about it.
In fact, it made me think of the next few photos... Where the branches of the trees were squeezing the life out of the stars and you start to see fewer stars near the branches...
Apparently I watch too many SyFy commercials
Great Photo!

I think your math needs a little work: you profile says 3976 even after I gave you an upvote!

It happens - just ignore it and think of it this way: you get to cross the 4K barrier all over again!
Seriously - ignore it. Points aren't worth money, and if you have attracted a downvote stalker (and we all do from time to time) then showing him it bothers you is the reward he seeks. If you don't react, then they got bored and give up. No reward - no downvotes.
And the system is self-balancing: spurious downvotes are automatically removed from time to time.
