I joined here on August 24th 2002. I seem to recall lurking for some time before that. Still, that was a quick (almost) 12 years and I'm still addicted. Get all stroppy if I don't get my daily does of insults on CP.

Yes, I know about that. Ticket with Arvixe: waiting for them to respond.

Did the lounge then really go months between new threads, or'd a lot of posts get eaten when someone forgot to feed the hamsters on a long weekend.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Guess it was similar to that other Lounge we now have...[^]
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

I was wondering if that site was still active, haven't been there in a long time, forgot the name and didn't save the link.

I think that was dynamic for the internet speeds back then.

So here I was, sitting on the couch minding my own business, when suddenly I was 2 years old again! And then I turned 100! And everything went black, and suddenly I walked among dinosaurs and at the same time I watched flying cars coming by... And I thought to myself "who the heck is causing this disturbance...?" And I went to the lounge (first place I'm looking when stuff like that happens), and here you are.
Well, a tyrannosaurus ripped my pants, so I'm sending you my bill for a new pair.

I haven't found a way to see my posts further back than last month, but I know they go back to 1999 at least.

That's a while ago. It's kinda scary to think that I've been here since October 2000, though!

to your all posts, and somehow feel how the time has passed, and stupid?
I was reading a long thread with John Simmons, at that time I had just two years of business work. Now I have just a little bit more, and I absolutely do not agree with myself at that time...
Here is the thread in question, it was in 2006... http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?msg=1740465#xx1740465xx[^]

Wow. When did the CP forum backend get updated so that threads from that long ago actually can be navigated without timing out after a minute or two...?

Nope, I'm still as stupid and clueless as I was a long time ago.
The only difference is that I know now that I'm stupid and clueless !! !
I'd rather be phishing!

Ignorance is fractal ... the more knowledge you put into the gaps, the more gaps you see that there are!
Hopefully, though, you're now stupid and clueless about different things than you were years ago, or at least your awareness of your ignorance is different and illuminated by the knowledge you've gained.

I re-visited the posts around 9/11 after reading a post from JSOP saying how forthright he was on here at the time and it led to the Soapbox being created. Either he wasn't very forthright, or I didn't find the posts he was referring too, but nevertheless the posts were quite interesting.
If I remember rightly Christian Graus broke the news just before he was going to bed, and it's interesting to read peoples reactions as it was happening and in the days afterwards.

I found out about the events of that morning via CP. It was a truly awful day, and one I try not to remember in too much detail.

Reading blogs of Start Up founders, I am always reading about Imposter Syndrome. I got to thinking ... if most Start Up Founders have Imposter Syndrome, and most Start Ups fail ... maybe it isn't a syndrome?
