One message "You could be a winner! No purchase nesessary. Details inside." is not as stupid as it may seem. If you have to buy something to win [a product, a ticket, a politician] then it stops being being a straight competition and becomes gambling and as you know gambling 'is bad'.
IIRC this method was first used in the Merca but has spread over here as well.

Peanuts aren't nuts, so the label is valid. Technically, peanuts are legumes.

We had a melon salad on Sunday - Melon, Toms, Cucumber, Goats Cheese - and it was damned good.

I read that as...
"Melon, Toms, Cucumber, Goats, Cheese - and it was damned good."
I needed to read it again to realize it wasn't goats and cheese.
It was broke, so I fixed it.

No, the warning is correct. Peanuts are legumes[^], not nuts. If there were only peanuts, the warning would not be needed.

May contain sunflower seeds.

I am not a cat person. Puppies grow up to be dogs and dogs have many and varied uses. Cats just kill stuff.

And purr.
And shed, get fleas, get ticks, puke at 4AM because they have eaten the house plants, release gasses the volume and malodorousness of which is unbelievable considering the size of the source, wash in their own spit, and eat stuff that smells like it have been eaten already and buried for a few months.
But they have their bad points too.
