But but !
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!" - Hunter S Thompson - RIP

Keep trying, you'll get there! They do take a bit of thinking about (and probably a mind like a corkscrew at times).
I don't get all of them either.

Thanx for the encouragement. I will.
Perhaps if I offered my own.
A phrase from TX state song.

How many letters? (Not that I'm likely to get it, I've never ever heard the Texas state song, despite a couple of work trips to Dallas / Fort Worth.)

Sounds like a bit of Townes Van Zandt

Thanks! I'll give them a listen. Texas seems to have a knack of churning out some fine song writers. Speaking of Mcmurtry, he has a gift for great lyrical prose in my humble opinion, a chip of the 'ol block if you will, definitely one of my favorite songwriters.

It's like the Twitter "question" ... will it or won't it? (something).
"Everyone" says it should be self-sustaing. But "we" know what they don't know, even though we can't explain it to them.
"Before entering on an understanding, I have meditated for a long time, and have foreseen what might happen. It is not genius which reveals to me suddenly, secretly, what I have to say or to do in a circumstance unexpected by other people; it is reflection, it is meditation." - Napoleon I
