They said I was wise beyond my years, so I had them extracted at 19.
Lo and behold, I had 6 wisdom teeth!
If you asked what time they should be extracted, I would say:
Tooth Hurty

|

My kids and I all had our wisdom teeth out at 17 or 18 due to being severely impacted (on their side pushing forward.) My ex-wife also had that problem but didn't get hers out until she was 21 when they were causing serious pain and then one got infected.

Did he use the old 2-1 punch?

I'm often frustrated by people that do what I'm about to do, but many other times I find it funnier than the joke itself..
Given that the joke says he was arrested for GHB, rather than making the distinction that he reported being arrested for GHB, clearly, he wasn't drunk - he was on GHB and was arrested for drug possession. He'll get less than if he was caught for giving out a beating.

Now, I know it's a joke, and all that, but I have to be petty (snigger) myself...
If you kidnapped them, you're not a thief, you're a kidnapper.
The punchline should be

The word genius was whispered into my ear, the first thing I ever heard, while I was still mewling in my crib. So it never occurred to me that I wasn't until middle age.
- Orson Welles
I am definitely going to take the same approach with my kids. Orson Welles did not turn out so bad. I'm sure by to the time he realised he was not a genius it was too late to stop behaving like one.

More seriously, parenting advice, don't tell your kids they are going to succeed at everything because they are genius. That create an understanding that solving problem is an innate skill... creating little grit. Tell them, yeah, just work a little harder and the world shall be yours! That will prime them for success much better!

Hi All,
Does anybody use the Monster web site, in the UK there TV adverts have been replaced by Reed (so annoying...)
I just applied for a role that linked through to the Monster site. A lot easier to use than I remember...

The problem with Monster and their ilk is numerous:
1. it is trolled by Indian "placement" agencies, probably off-shore. 95% of the calls I get are from nearly impossible to understand Indian speakers with names like "Jack." As rude, racist, arrogant and type casting as it may sound (and actually is), I literally have taken to hanging up the instant I hear an Indian accent.
2. nobody actually pays attention to flags like "will NOT relocate."
3. nobody seems to look at anything except the last 6 months of experience. I have 2 years of Ruby on Rails and 10 years of C#. What do I get calls for? RoR.
4. If not trolled by #1, the remainder are American head hunters. I have, not once, received a call from an actual company looking to hire.
5. When I apply for a job, I invariably discover I just "applied" via a head hunter agency, not the direct company. I don't think companies directly advertise on Monster anymore.
6. I have never actually gotten a job through Monster (and no, it's not because I hang up on them.)
Waste of time, in my opinion. It's who you know that can recommend you that has always been the way I've gotten a job. The only exceptions are cold calls/emails because someone wanted to hire me as a result of a Code Project article I've written.
