They let you join LinkedIn? I joined long before they had any membership standards, but I thought we'd got mo selective since.

I just realized that I already connected to you in LinkedIn without knowing that it is you!
I accepted your request out of politeness, without knowing who the man is!
Maybe the NV-NW thing, but no mention of gin there!

Huh, I didn't know CP supported the @ tag thing.
I keep vacillating between "Owner" and "Chief Architect". Stupid LI doesn't let me change it to Chief Architect though.

Me either. Tag me, tag me. I want to see what it does.

Didn't do anything for me. We broke CP!

That because Marc enclosed the @ inside (unvisible) quotation marks...@ works only in plain text...You need more than that to broke CP

Good catch. So what happens when you're tagged then? You up for tagging me?

Yes, on 13th Oct 2004 I woke up and didn't have a cigarette - and I haven't had one since.
OK, there was a lot more to it than that: I'm not going to pretend it was simple and effortless. Even with the patches I found it difficult.
When I started, everyone smoked: you could hardly see across the programmers office most days (Heck, you could hardly see across the car if Mum and Dad were both in it for a long journey).
So how many of you do still smoke?
Cigarettes, or eCigs?
If you don't, then did you ever? Or when did you give up?
I'm just being a nosy person, that's all!

It's been 9 years for me. It was tough at first but haven't had the urge since.

I gave up around this time of year, 14 years ago.
2nd best decision I ever made.

I do smoke on occasion, mostly when I feel really bad for a long time.
For me it was always just cigarettes, but always when I quit I have the worst week and that is why I am very
reluctant to start again.
I started in high school and always had these times of smoking a lot or not smoking at all. The longest I smoked regularly
was about 6 months a few years back. Woke up one day and I have had enough of it so I quit. It wasn't easy but I managed.
Haven't smoked at all for about 10 months now. But I have also dealt with some things that were bothering me in the past
so I find it easier not to smoke. In addition I have other obsessions that make smoking something at the back of my to do list.
Also congratulations on not smoking for ten years

Never smoked - so when I got into office with my first job I just got sick...Everyone were smoking and you barely could breath...
But I was fortunate - on the next month I joined the boss decided to pay everyone a guru to help quit smoking...It was successful and we are a no smoking area since...

Then I realized the topic.

I used to walk away, and not smoke by my computer - mostly because the companies I worked for wouldn't let you - and I found it helpful as it broke my "concentration" and let me come at problems from a different direction. Now I come here instead...

no smoking for me.
Watched my brother die of a heart attack at 35 from smoking, I was 15. It was not pretty.
Watched my parents cough up a lung each morning. From age 0 on.
Wondered why when I went outside I immediately felt better. Would spend hours outside in -15(f) just so I could breath.
Watched my dad die at 70 from heart disease, Watched mom die at 76 from lung cancer.
No thank you.
To err is human to really mess up you need a computer

My sincere condolences - my mother and father both died of cancers, Mum's at least was smoking related. And I'm losing count of the friends I've lost to tumours; I'm pretty sure it's higher than the number that have died as a result of motorcycles...
Weird bit was Mum's funeral: we all knew exactly what killed her but the number of people who lit up immediately on leaving the service...
