There are lots of posts here asking for a general opinion on some technology, or dev tool; some individuals here ask frequent questions about using various devices that have nothing to do with programming, such as connecting set-top box "X" to streaming service "Y," how to fix grandma's massage wand, etc.
If some posts that ask such questions are tolerated, why not this one which is at least relevant to software development ?

There you go bringing logic into the discussion.
I like how the well liked can ask and get answers to questions that would cause a sh*t storm if asked by mere mortals.
Once you lose your pride the rest is easy.
I would agree with you but then we both would be wrong.

don't overthink it. I was reading one article and thinking about another... and posted in the wrong forum. Hard enough to herd rabbits or cats, take your pick

Joe sets up Michael to go on a blind date with a friend of his.
But Michael is a little worried about going out with someone he's never seen before.
"What do I do if she's ugly?" says Mike, "I'll be stuck with her all night."
"Don't worry." Joe says, "just go up to her door and meet her first. If you like what you see, then everything goes as planned.
If you don't, just shout Aaaaaauuuggghhh! and fake an asthma attack."
So that night, Mike knocks at the girl's door and when she comes out he is awe-struck at how beautiful and wonderfully beautiful she is.
He's about to speak when the girl suddenly shouts, "Aaaaaauuuggghhh!"

Pardon me while I take a moment to role play the average college age hipster douchebag:
I'm not sure how an asthma attack gets one out of the situation.
Are you making fun of people with asthma?
Why is this joke promoting 'lookism'?
Jokes about rape aren't funny, please stop telling them.
I noticed there are no black people in this joke, are you a racist?
Please take your hate speech elsewhere.

That deserves an abuse vote for crimes against spelling!

Last time I looked seriously .net 2 was the new thing. I guess I have some catching up to do.
Now I have a vague, open-ended brief to do programmery stuff and make [client's] error messages go away.
Ok, well, my fee includes your first-born child (for trading purposes), a spot to park my hippie van, and unlimited google access, as I really have no idea and make it up as I go along.
Oh, and alcohol. And chips.

I've been trying to read some C# 1 code of mine tonight.
It wants some help I don't feel like providing.

Hmm... "Here's some code I wrote ten years ago, before .net 2, it was working when I last worked on it, can anyone upgrade it to .net 4.5?"
Yeah, that might work.

Not with pristine spelling like that and a total failure to mention the urgency of such a request.
Ask like that and you'll stand-out a mile-off.
