You're welcome! It was a fun article to write, and I ended up rewriting the original code base because as I was writing the article, I realized I didn't like some of the original design choices.

Fun, wasn't it?
Did one myself a while back in...um...was there a Delphi in '93? Or did I use Turbo Pascal?
Of course the web was much simpler then...

I'm on a fight card Feb. 27th in Missouri.
Since my last cage fight ended up turning into a k1 (kickboxing) exhibition match, I got a chance to review my kickboxing footage. I wasn't entirely happy with my striking in that match so I've been training at a boxing gym in addition to my normal training. So I decided to take another k1 match to see how I've come along.
The promoter is looking for my opponent now.

One of my former roommates was a pro-boxer for a little bit. You can definitely tell boxers apart from mixed martial artists when it comes to stand-up striking. He had a hell of a punch and was very quick with it.
Good luck on your next match! Hopefully the training pays off!

yeah a boxers speed is one thing I wanted. The defense techniques as well. I feel like it's been a very good addition.
One thing you can tell if you've been in both is that a boxer is quite obviously not worried about kicks, knees, elbows, clinch, or take downs.

Yep, definitely two different beasts (boxing v. mma).
Some group of thugs tried to hold up my buddy, he dropped the first with the first punch, the second with a couple of swings, and a third ran away after seeing his friends out for the count. He's a big guy to begin with (was pro heavy weight) so not sure what they were thinking, but he can strike with a lot of power with very little wind up (almost looks like just a reaction movement instead of a wind-up). I assume that's the years of training at work there.

Yeah youtube is full of guys getting their asses handed to them by boxers in street fights Even if they aren't pro/ammy, it still doesn't matter.
Boxing training is a lot of repetitive things. Hitting the bag a zillion times will make you hit hard and fast no matter what.

I love the fact that Josh Smith is on there - nothing posted for at about 3 years.

Just proves the Hamsters can make mistakes, like the rest of us.
Mind you, they made DD an MVP in 2011, so we already knew that!

And me of course, come to think of it...

Chris explained this last year. Josh received the award because his articles are still incredibly popular, and attract huge amounts of upvotes. In other words, he's still providing value.

Oh yes, now I remember the discussion last year & it still doesn't make sense. What the award is saying is someone who probably didn't even log in in 2014 are more "valuable" to the site in that year than people who actually contributed something new because people are still up voting it.
I feel able to say this as I've certainly not provided anything useful in the last year, or probably couple of years. I'm not saying Josh hasn't contributed overall, because he clearly has, but that the system is skewed to old hands with multiple articles under their belts.
