Yeah that's pretty far, indeed. Only think i could think of taking that trip is to book a complete weekend from Thursday to Sunday. In that case it would be worth the time
Switzerland will, i really think they will, see soon that they are too expensive and lose a lot of tourists which is one of their main businesses.

Or why not Feuerzangenbowle?

I guess I'll have to try it some day.
I've learned that one must try everything at least once.
Like the first time I tried Kalimotxo (Kalte Muschi for Germans) and in beforehand I thought it to be a waste of both the wine and the coke.

But be carefull with the sugarloaf, once it's on fire and you rewetten it with the rum there might be a dangerous flameout :P you better do it like this[^] and put half of the bottle in without sugar
Ah yes i remeber that drink, not one of my favourites but drinkable

So today I did something unusual and navigated down to Latest Best Picks. Now I feel as I did something completely wrong, they weren't so good at all. In fact they were a bit bad, misleading, bad practice etc, if I had implemented that I'd feel very dirty.
It didn't used to be like that. It used to be full of high quality pieces that you learned a lot from...

Four of five articles in the list are actually from one author who has re-activated his articles after deleting them (the background can be read in the Bugs and Suggestions forum).
I guess that these are shown because they have more votes than new (latest) articles.
|
|
|
|

Well, then they really shouldn't appear in that list. The problem goes a little beyond that I'm afraid, it has happened a bit too frequent. Articles that are ok, gets a ton of votes, while articles that are really important fall behind in the queue. It shouldn't be like that.
BTW: I assume that this is the back story[^].

I just want to explain what is actually happening. I'm with you regarding the quality of some articles having many votes while other really good ones does not. The initial thread of the back story is discussing some of your aspects. Especially that downvotes are not counted when there are lot of high votes.

I also remember about two years ago were I was asked my views about the voting system, my take was that you shouldn't be allowed to vote on an article unless you where an author and had at least a premium author reputation. It might be a bit strict, but I think it would fix a lot of problems (perhaps also create some new ones?).

Don't get me started on article voting...
