Got a call the other day that my dad was rushed to the hospital. I spent since Thursday there with him.
Come back and found out all sorts of drama. It's easy to see how frustrating this place is when you're gone working remotely for a few days.
Looks like the other programmer/manager walked out, but then decided to return. There was some sort of argument about how we don't meet deadlines, among other things. We also are doing a full demo of our new application (supposed to launch in August) on Feb. 27th.
I have an interview scheduled for Monday, and a friend talking to his company.

forgot the best part. I'm the only one coding that project we have the demo for, but I'm doing data processing right now.... and don't know what that reasoning is. It's definitely not something that I'm supposed to be doing, ro that someone else can't handle.

Thanks. He's got a few more days in the hospital probably, but he's recovering now.

Wishing your dad a complete and speedy recovery!
According to my calculations, I should be able to retire about 5 years after I die.

Just wondering in the hot afternoon sun of West Africa what the last row and column of MS Office Excel worksheet and wasted about 10 minutes it's Column XFD, Row 1,048,576!
What your mind can imagine when the weather is hot.

Where's the fun in that?
Still, mid-week... afternoon.. baking hot. I'd be thinking "beer"!!
Fortunately in Ol'Blighty we've only got 4C today, so I'll settle for a cuppa.
How do you know so much about swallows? Well, you have to know these things when you're a king, you know.

Anyone who thinks he needs a million rows in Excel really needs to a shrink the data.

Actually we have cases where 1 million is not enough.
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Then you're using the wrong tool.

You think Access or some other database is easier to use for a user than Excel?
Nope. Wrong. Excel allows for quick formulas, easy charting, sorting, data entry, all way easier than any database program I've ever seen.

A million records in Excel is a disaster waiting to happen.
Or possibly multiple disasters that have already happened -- there's no way of verifying that it is behaving correctly.
