Does it work on network drives? Two that I've tried don't, so they're not very useful to me.
Lupas can navigate networks, and even has a context-menu item on folders (which doesn't care if they're on a network drive), which is a big usability plus.

Works anywhere you want. No installation needed, so you can test it out. I've been using it for years.

Hmm. Had to do regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Bulk Rename Utility\BRUHere.dll" to get a context menu item like the one from Lupas, but it still doesn't open folders across the network.
And the Interface!
It gives FileMatrix a run for the money!

No need for context menu.
Open the drive in the tree.
Select the files you wish to rename (Ctrl+A minus those that you don't want).
Fill in the options that you want (while previewing the changes on top - 2nd column).
Click Rename to make the change.

Um.
It. Does. Not. Work. For. Network. Folders.
For example, with Lupas, if I (use a shortcut to) navigate across the network to a drive on one of my other computers, I can right-click on any folder on that drive -- which is attached to a different computer -- and open Lupas to rename any files in there.
If I right-click the same folder with BRU, it opens to the My Computer view, with no active folder.
If you just open BRU directly, all you see is the local machine; no network.

I have it open right now and I'm seeing and opening all the network drives listed (11 of them in total). Did you try downloading the ZIP file? The WinZip icon on the download page is clickable.

I want to navigate to network drives.

Gotcha! Unfortunately, can't navigate here due to security lockdowns. I have a couple of Network Location folders that for some reason are not accessible in Windows right now. Probably due to the virus that some people passed around yesterday. Once that's re-enabled, I can try navigating to them and other networks to see if it works for me. However, I've never needed that before, so it probably won't work since you tested it.

It didn't work. I can see my non-mapped network folders and open them up, but it refuses to see the files inside them. That's definitely not a feature.

Yup. It's annoying, because it can handle the multi-byte characters.

That's one of the few pictures I've ever seen that, even on my laptop's screen, gives me a sense of vertigo. Absolutely amazing picture.

But no one will tell me when the new season of Vikings will start or why the "Copper" series never started season three or when Grimm is on or anything about any programs I care about.
I feel so socially engineered.
