EverNote is your friend
I just plonk notes in there, grab web clips etc. and don't worry too much about organisation
Later I might organise the notes, but the search is good enough most of the time.
(I'm not saying I don't organise at all - I have notebooks for different subjects, but in ech notbook I just splat in information.
It's fast, fun and freeeeeee!

Finally back with internet connection! I'll try EverNote, OneNote annoys me. Thanks for the help.

Not really, just a text file with a manually kept index. Soon enough you'll delete most of the things in it because they are trivial and already burned forever in your mind.

Seriously Google is your friend.
You can't know everything in programming, and in many ways, I have always found that it's not what you know, its how to find the answers based on requirements and apply those findings that counts.
I do use OneNote for notes, but usually for ideas rather than code snippets.

Microsoft OneNote or Evernote. I use OneNote, and it is portable.
As you learn the basics, the notes that you keep for the basics, won't matter anymore. I think that is why a few members keep mentioning Google.
Please remember, there are developers that Google more, and developers that Googgle, less. Which one do you want to be?
I would strive to be a Programmer/Developer/Engineer that Google's less.
Google is a great tool. CodeProject and Stack Overflow are your friends, too.

I used onenote until, when I updated to the latest version it completely trashed all my notes, and happily synched so I lost almost everything.

That has never happened to me and I have upgraded to every new version, when they became available. - Interesting.

Yeah - one of those things, I think!
I was using OneNote for work and Evernote at home - now I use Evernote for bot. Just shows how one bad experience can lose a company a sale! (although I still use the rest of the office suite, so actually MS don't care

Do you pay for your Evernote? I have thought about going to the paid version, thinking that I will get more benefits from it. What do you think?
The one thing that I can't do with OneNote is view it on my Android phone, currently.

I don't see anything other than the ability to store notes offline that I would use (though I haven't looked for a while, I confess) so the free version is fine for me

...and then you just shrugged it off and restored from your offline backup, right?

Corporate site - probably is a backup but can't be arsed waiting to get it found, restored etc. - need something now.
Fortunately I had a machine I hadn't used for months that I turned on (offline) and got a load of stuff from.

Here's what I've done and it works ok...
- Open Gmail, create a new email
- Don't fill in a sender
- Add a subject.
- Paste in whatever you want.. notes, links, image, etc.
- Wait for gmail to save it
DONT HIT SEND! The notes are now in an unsent email in the Drafts folder forever. And you can access it from anywhere.
I have 23 'Drafts' and their subjects are by category - 'C#', 'WPF', 'MVC', etc.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is

Off to Orlando, Florida tomorrow. Please limit your posts so that I don't have too much to read when I come back in five days. Much obliged!

What's worst, a cold toilet seat or a warm toilet seat?
|
|
|

A wet one.

Ah, yes indeed, but my question would still remain.
Wet and warm or wet and cold?
|
|
|
|
|
For me cold is worse (wet or otherwise).
