If you don't need expansion slots or outstanind performances I'd suggest to search for fanless computers - many manifacturers sell this kind of insulated PCs.
They tend to overheat and often have average performances, but work very well in corrosive or wet environments.

You can also get a "single board" PC with no disk or anything else needed: Have a Google for PC104.
I've seen them used in exercise equipment where they were supposed to be in a sweat, humidity, and spit proof box, but weren't for cost cutting purposes. The company (Shapemaster) went bust fairly quickly...and corrosion was just one of the reasons!

Thank you. I worked for a year or so on a PC104 several years ago but then forgot entirely the name of the architecture and wasn't able to find it in any way

Atm I'm kinda curious on how long it will survive. It's been there quite some time already and survived dripping water from the roof and all sorts of (ab)use.
Should it become an issue we could also try to position it differently or just put up some sort of protection. At least it's position prevents most of the dust from getting to the printer.

Ah you remember me of 67 old PCs that resisted to an unknown amount of rainwater that came crashing down the whole lab, due to heavy amounts of uninterrpupted rain for days and the breaking of the roof - in the lab there was at least half a meter of water and it soaked all the comupters up to half their height.
20 of them never woke up and another score of them slowly died over the next year. We did all that was possible to prolong their suf save them but in vain.

IP69k machines are the norm in many places - that allows washing with high pressurized high temperature water. In the Food Industry it is almost a standard.

Anandtech's reviewed a few fanless computers over the last year or so. If you're not pegging them at 100% load, in a normal environment they did well thermally. I don't think they did any sort of hotbox testing to simulate a factory floor though.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Why, oh esteemed Nagy; yes: why subject yourself to this durance vile ? Why not roll on in the wagon you are so familiar with you no longer hear its wooden wheels creak ... while others work for Sauron of Redmond for free, sacrificing their sanity so sometime down the line, about the time when service pack three is released, you actually have a stable operating wagon ?
cheers, Bill

Yes
As long as it isn't a Bwian, because he isn't a Messiah, he's a very naughty boy. Then again he isn't a Woman like Biggus Dickus.

I am most sure, that you could have worked this into another Thought of The Day.

Panic not, young Vilmos, panic not.
From 8.1 to 10 you will notice but improvements. A bit like finding that an old, comfortable polished turd now sports a pretty bow.
It's those who didn't move to 8.x that suffer!

I have children, so I can attest that it isn't just middle-aged crumplies like me, dads talking to small children are the same.
Anyway, I am now on WinTen and there are n/send all your money to Redmond/o problems to report.
