MO is a common American abbreviation for Medical Officer i.e. Doctor, which is what is intended in the clue.
MO in the UK is more commonly used as an abbreviation for Modus Operandi (Latin for mode of operating or working), especially with the method a specific criminal uses to carry out his/her crimes. It is also used as a shortened version of the word 'moment' as in "I'll see you in a mo".
