Yeah, I just heard the news about Jonah Lomu on the TV news.
Hard to believe that he could go so early - when he played it looked like it would take an Uzi to just slow him down!
Farewell to probably the best Rugby player of all time: rest in peace, sir.
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Yes. Very appropriate.

I'll never forget him running striaght over that poor Englishman on the way to a try. 1995 World Cup, if memory serves.
Or the following message ("herogram") from an NZ schoolboy:
"Remember, Rugby is a team game. You other 14 guys, pass it to Jonah."
Cheers,

It is terribly sad news. Listening to the news this morning, one of his ex-team mates said that the kidney problem he had was exacerbated by exercise. He knew he had the problem in his teens and yet carried on playing.
Truly one of rugby's all-time greats, he redefined the role of the winger combining speed, agility and power to a devastating effect.

I modeled my wing play on him.
Minus the speed, agility, and power of course, and the devastating effect.
Essentially I was a big fat bloke who ran straight over people, but in my mind I was channeling Jonah.

I grew up playing back row from almost my first game of rugby. By the time I was 14, I stopped growing and 5'11 10 stone flankers don't get far even in under 16's! So I moved out eventually settling on the right wing, but I never lost the desire the get in there and I was more than happy playing crash ball. My body wasn't too happy though.

As discussed before I think, as a kid I played scrum half because there was only me and the number 8 who really knew what we were doing. Against most teams we could control the games between us, against 'rugby schools' we got annihilated.
When I returned to the game as an adult my knees were shot so bending and turning were problems and I spent most of my time on the wing. I was surprisingly quick for a bloke of 6'2" and 19 stone (first open run of the game was almost always greeted with a cry of "sh*t he's quicker than he looks" from somewhere behind me) , and if the opposition wingers did manage to get in my way then I did enjoy running straight over the top of them.

Reminds me of one of NZ's long retired boxers who appeared on the celebrity Wheel of Fortune.
When asked to pick a letter he picked "O for awesome"
So if you ever ask a kiwi spell something out it would probably O for awesome rather than O for Oscar or Orange
