Well so far, some of the people I've met on the phone seem to be nice. What area in particular did you find to be that way?

Well, I figure a good start is to avoid the ghettos. If I can do that, I'll be onto something.

Well, what are the people like for one. I keep on hearing bad things about it from my tech coworkers, but in my experience with LA people so far is that they've been super nice. I realize it may not be the cheapest place to live, but I can't help but think not everyone there is so evil like some want me to think.

I've enjoyed my time here. We've met some nice people and have built a decent social circle.
It is expensive to live here; just depends on the area. If you need advice on that or anything else feel free to email and I'll be glad to help.

Also, what are the best areas to live if I want to be able to drive to Hollywood for acting classes a couple times a week without traffic being too much of an issue.

Email me and we can have a proper chat.
Also, depends, are you single? Wife, kids? All makes a difference.

Yeah man. So far, out of all the tech people (coworkers) I've talked to, they keep on trying to scare me or some crap telling me things like LA people suck. But in my experience, the folks I've talked to on the phone from there have been awesome to chat with. So, I just want a better idea of the people.
And, I'd like like to know the best spots to live reasonablity if I want to have access to Hollywood so I can go to a couple acting classes twice a week. The one in particular I'd go to at first is in North Hollywood I believe.
And of course I want a tech job for the daytime hours. So, any ideas of recruiters or companies hiring would be super.

Well...there's a network of faults underneath the city. Eventually, LA will suffer a BSOD.

I grew up in the area around LA. Nothing could induce me to go back other than to cash in a huge lottery ticket and leave immediately. Los Angeles - Southern CA generally - is a cesspool. The northern part - far from the Left Coast - might be tolerable for a while, but it's still a Peoples' Republic.

No, the speed with which you get out of there is important too!

What do you mean by cesspool though? All money aside, what didn't you like about it? Just curious because I'm a couple weeks away from packing up and moving.

Jeremy, all of Southern California is a sewer - overpriced, overcrowded, overtaxed, polluted air and water, when you can get water... And, to boot, it's filled with Liberals who believe the US Constitution is optional, and citizens' rights are what the local government or homeowners' association decide they are for the moment. There is nothing whatsoever about LA or it's surrounding environs that is worth tolerating at any wage. Wherever you are, it's better than LA.

I've been told that, but I have my reasons to go. It's not to live out until I'm dead, it's because I'm on a mission. So, I'm going regardless. But, despite all that, it can't be as bad some people expect me to believe. I'm sure NYC has its issues too.
