In This thread here[^] I asked the members of CodeProject to predict the future of the Desktop PC market.
Seems the expert big-shots did their research, and you guys who contributed to that thread were highly accurate. Here is a report[^] on the data that they have tracked.
It is so close to what you guys said.
This is definitely a significant marking point in a trend, not just a blip or a glitch in temporary spending patterns. This market is not going to be anything like it has been for two or three decades.
It would be interesting to somehow plot this with comparisons of similar data from previous technical markets such as...
- CB Radios
- Color TVs
- Small B/W TVs
- Stereos (from the days of turntables)
- Boom Boxes
- Small hip mounted stereo players (e.g., The "Walkman" days)
Not sure if anybody ever quantified those data, or if they are available.
Looks like assembling your own Desktop PC will be the new norm.
Thanks for the opinions you guys tossed in to the other thread. Seeing this article, and comparing it to your predictions, was extremely useful.
The one thing that confuses me is this table[^] from that article.
It shows the big names decreasing their quantity, but "others" increasing by 19%

My first PC (a 486SX in 1992) was from CompuAdd (I see that Wikipedia has an entry for them). It came with Windows 3 pre-installed, but they forgot to tell me that I needed to add a mouse .

I did. The way he puts off homework questions is funny too. Not sure if the kind of language would be accepted here anymore. Nothing better if that can work.
I was reading some old articles and messages and things were way more hilarious back then. One of Pete's messages made me laugh so hard that, for once, I was center of attraction. I did not like that.

The far side of the moon - is it still dark there?
But yes, nice feature indeed

Of course; it isn't naturally green, after all.

It doesn't need to be dark, just a well regulated temperature and constant humidity. I have a chedderish that is coming up to a month, needs at least another 2-3 weeks to be good to go, and some proto-Stilton that has just started along the road from milk to cheesehood.

If you think that's cool, try enclosing your text in HTML <i> </i> tags! Or you could just highlight the text and click the italics tool next to the Bold tag above the text box.

Ah ! It also took me about one year to find out about the direct referencing ( @Nish-Nishant ) feature.
I can't wait for July next year when you discover the API.
