I know for a fact that God does not exist.
Probably pretty much in the same way that Christians (or any theist) believes their God(s) do exist.
We can't really prove each other wrong.
I will say this though, IF there is a God and IF he is almighty he is a sadistic bastard for making us kill and fight each other and ruining the world like we do (and often in his name too)

Sander Rossel wrote: I know for a fact that God does not exist. Nope. Facts can be proven. You believe that God does not exist.
Sander Rossel wrote: We can't really prove each other wrong Sort of. I can give you steps to find out for yourself if God is real. But really, this is a soapbox discussion.
Sander Rossel wrote: he is a sadistic bastard for making us kill and fight each other You think God makes us kill each other? Why do you think that?

RyanDev wrote: You think God makes us kill each other? Why do you think that? Well, I don't think God does anything since he does not exist, but if he does and he is omnipotent then why are we fighting and killing each other (currently in the Middle East, for example)? Surely he knew this would happen, or he made it happen, and he does nothing to stop it.
As Epicurus said:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
RyanDev wrote: Nope. Facts can be proven. I'm as sure of his non-existence as you are about his existence (which is fine by the way, to each his own)

Sander Rossel wrote: Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Wrong. Do you allow your kids to go outside? Do you even have kids? Your kids can get hurt by going outside. You know that but you still allow them to. Are you malevolent because you don't stop your kids from getting hurt?
Sander Rossel wrote: I'm as sure of his non-existence as you are about his existence Actually, no. I have had experiences in life which have proven to me that God is real. However, god will not force us to believe in him, which means he is not going to appear to you and try to convince you. It is your choice. Each individual has to make the choice and effort to find out if god is real or not. It's your choice.

RyanDev wrote: Wrong. Do you allow your kids to go outside? Do you even have kids? Your kids can get hurt by going outside. You know that but you still allow them to. Are you malevolent because you don't stop your kids from getting hurt? That comparison makes no sense. Kids NEED to go outside, be active, enjoy the sun and fresh air, play, just be kids. Keeping them inside would do more harm then letting them play outside and risk injury (most accidents happen in- and around the house anyway). If I could stop them from getting hurt while living their lives, then yes, I would do so. Unfortunately, I can't.
I don't have kids by the way (thank God! I really dislike kids ).
RyanDev wrote: which have proven to me that God is real Which you have interpreted as having to be influenced by some higher power rather than coincidence, luck, unexplained (natural) variables... Many people claim to have seen the hand of, or heard the voice of, God.
Nothing is proven, except your willingness to believe in a greater power.
RyanDev wrote: he is not going to appear to you Jesus appeared in toast, cereals, and many other items though
Which, again, doesn't prove the existence of Jesus, but the fantasy of some people.
Many people, with many different religions, have claimed their God(s) is/are the only true God(s).
I find it all very fascinating, the Romans, the Greek, the Egyptian, the Northern, the Celtic, the Slavonic, the Japanese, the Chinese, and whatever old pantheons have you. And now Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and many variations thereof.
They have been the source of idiocy, war and hatred, as well as love and inspiration.
They all have one thing in common though, their God(s) is/are the one and only (which is funny when you think about it).
Your God is no different, nor is my non-God.
Perhaps we can all agree one day, I really hope so.
Until that day comes... Let's agree to disagree

A criminal could convince himself that the law isn't real. But it is still subject to it.
A little rabbit could convince itself that hawks aren't real but that doesn't mean they will leave it alone.
God's word says the people being tormented would LOVE the chance to come back and warn you, but if you will not believe the scriptures you would not believe if someone came back from the dead. There are people screaming and flOpping around in very real pain in very real fire who would DO ANYTHING the chance that people alive have to REPENT.

A person could make up a God, a heaven, and hell, but that doesn't make it real.
It didn't work for any other religion besides Christianity (if I am to believe Christians) and there have been plenty!
Such "arguments" go both ways.
Anyway, let's leave this discussion because people are never going to agree on politics and religion (and some other stuff too).
I wish you all the best in this life and the next (if there so happens to be one, as you believe).
As long as you don't hurt others through your actions (or inactions) you're alright to me, no matter what religion you have

Religion of love, they say. Depends a lot upon who one asks.

Well, I'll tell you.
When someone starts to preach how their whole beliefs thing made the world a better place (also fun at parties!) I point out that it is the root cause of most of the planets suffering.
Horrid as they are, when it comes to inflicting inhuman abuse on men, women, and children, ISIS has a long long way to go to catch up with Christendom.

Off topic.
What I like is you heartily disagree with me on a thread and can agree with me on another part. I try to maintain that debates and discussions are nothing personnel (at least at CP).
Not so in most places or at most times.
