I am getting quite a number of pages becoming unresponsive in Google Chrome, and needing to be killed. I also get a rather jerky response on many forum messages. Although this is largely happening on CodeProject I have seen examples from one or two other sites. I do not think I (or my ISP) have changed anything recently so am at a loss as to why it has suddenly started happening. Anyone else seeing anything similar?
[edit]
I just downloaded the latest 64 bit version (51.0.2704.36 beta-m (64-bit)) and it appears to be much better. I also discovered that it has installed this in the "C:\Program Files (x86)" directory, rather than the 64 bit "C:\Program Files". So it seemns that a previous update may have reverted to 32 bit and rather messed up my browsing experience.

The 32-bit version definitely appears to have been the problem. Latest 64-bit version is flying (let's hope I have not spoken too soon).

I'm running Version 50.0.2661.94 m and I've seen no problems at all.
[edit]
Which is odd, because I was running the 64 bit version, and this is the 32...
That may be relevant - which are you using?

Version 50.0.2661.94 m
Hmm, I thought I was running 64 bit last time I checked: maybe that has something to do with it. Further investigation necessary.

Now on Version 51.0.2704.36 beta-m (64-bit). Watch this space.

1. I have long lag times at the beginning of opening a web site in Chrome (v 50.0.2661.94 m).
It's as if the DNS lookup takes a long time.
I even wrote a script (C# LINQPad) to check DNS times so I could compare.
Basically Google spins and says, "contacting the site..." for a few seconds -- which is a long time when you are on a highspeed connection.
2. Chrome eats the disk. just chews on it unnecessarily at odd times. I know it caches pages and all that, but I wrote a program to watch disk access and you'll see Chrome hitting the disk even when it is "supposedly" completely idle in the background.
I keep on using chrome though because it is as good or better than the rest anyways.
I'll watch for your updates. Thanks.

Ah, so the solution is uninstall it and install something else.
Gotcha.

Yes, but I reserve the right to poke fun at things I don't like.

True, but if all the rights are reserved, then what's left?

In my case that's a very short list.

Size doesn't matter, or so I'm told.
I don't believe it, though.
