I beg to differ but let's ask a 3rd party, Ricotta know if I'm right or wrong?

Would living too close to the Yellowstone super volcano be the Er of the Calderas?

If you're going to pun on caldera it's as well to verify how it's pronounced before you, you know, pronounce.

I won't watch football matches, I took the retirement statement by Lionel Messi a bit more seriously. So... This is what I may invest my time a bit more in.

Why would I need an idea to shout that out?
|
|
|
|

You missed his point: what he meant is that you shouldn't shout when you have an idea, lest you frighten it and it goes away. He didn't say you couldn't shout when you don't have an idea.
GOTOs are a bit like wire coat hangers: they tend to breed in the darkness, such that where there once were few, eventually there are many, and the program's architecture collapses beneath them. (Fran Poretto)

Why would you cripple an amazing IDE with Vim?
I actually encountered someone last week that was using Vim. We were doing a pair programming session, and I had to keep asking him, can you delete that line? Can you insert this text, here let me copy it into Slack so you can paste it into the code.

Some developers (like my collegue) are knowing vim and the pure crypto-power of it since decades and wont learn other apps, because they run it on Linux and MacOS.
Press F1 for help or google it.

OK, so what the hell is VIM?

It's a modal text editor, where you switch between different modes for editing text. There is a mode for typing that behaves like a normal text editor. There is also a command mode, which is what most people struggle with. Instead of typing, your key strokes perform different actions to manipulate the cursor position and the text around it.

You're forgetting the most important 'feature', as the two mile wide landmine belt in front of the 10 mile high completely shear faced cliff that is the VI learning curve it defaults in command mode so that newbies can't even edit a file before discovering they have no way to quit other than closing the terminal.

The mere existance of tutorials on how to type a "hello vim" file says everything about the user hostile sadism that its creators revel in.

I guess we could say the same thing about programming, learning to speak a new language, or touch typing. Some tools require you to put in some effort to learn.
