Some alien has sued NASA for violating its privacy. Now the counterstrike has begun. Google is already sneaking up on them to bombard them with ads and Mickeysoft will force update them to Win10 A.E.

Actually, I was really surprised.
Before the AE update, the touchpad on the (optional) keyboard for the WookieTab was unusable - oversensitive, double registering, useless.
After the AE update (which happened automatically the same day I got the device, took under an hour, and was hassle free) it started working like a charm! Now, it just works, and - for a touchpad - is not half bad.
Bad command or file name. Bad, bad command! Sit! Stay! Staaaay...

Always makes me think of the film "Battleship". How, exactly, were they able to get the radio signal to go faster than the speed of light? A deep, dark mystery!
|

They used the speed of dark, which is much quicker. Think about it, whenever light gets somewhere, it finds that dark got there first...

So yesterday my work OS install got hosed and needed to be reloaded.
As part of that process I launched Edge for the one thing it's good for and searched for "Firefox".
At the top of the bing page was an item marked as an ad. Mozilla's official download page.
Immediately below that was a second item marked as an ad. Microsoft's pitch begging users not to stop using edge.
A minute later I repeated the above process searching for "Chrome". I got an equivalent pair of ads.
I'm not sure what's more pathetic: That they resorted to buying ads in Bing to try and retain user share, or that having done so they let Google and Mozilla outbid them for the top slot on the pages.
Edit: Added screenshots of binging for Chrome in 4 browsers[^] The IE11, Edge, and Firefox ones were done via the search box, I didn't care enough to figure out how to Bing directly in Chrome, so I did that one by going to the website first.

I tried with the same search with FF and there's not a single beg, so I believe it's part of Edge and not Bing.
As for the ads, I hate them anywhwere.

An advertising delivery service hard-coded into the browser?
How much lower can they stoop?

There are two kinds of people in the world: those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

I don't use google, even on my phones (reverted to factory version, and never updated or opened), and I don't use chrome.

I'm sure you can show ads depending on user agent, without having to hard code anything.

Searching for Firefox or Chrome in Edge's search box/address bar returns nothing but downloads links for these respective browsers, as would be expected.
That's because my default search engine in Edge is DuckDuckGo.
Therefore I have to conclude it's a Bing thing, and not an Edge thing.

Somehow, on a similar note:
Where I live, there's a bank, the "TD BANK", who is amazingly generous with their dark green pens. They are in use absolutely everywhere, it seems.
Well - they are now:
I took a hand full and left them at some of the desks at a nearby branch of the Chase Bank in case the chained pens were missing.

It has to do something with Edge... Searching with Bing on IE11 shows no begging...

Alex: Fix it? How you gonna fix this?
Skipper: Grit, spit and a whole lotta duct tape.

Also a reply to @den2k88
I just tried multiple browsers and got identical giant begs in IE and Edge. In Chrome and Firefox I didn't get the same oversized keep using edge beg ad in the 2nd spot, instead I got a smaller edge ad as the top spot.
