New version of Firefox is blazing fast.
Now if it just doesn't freeze up on ocassion.
[Update]
I started to see freezes after a little while using FF and when I looked at my memory meter, it's maxed out by FF. WTF?
Fast, Cheap or Buggy
Pick 2 eh?
Back to Chrome for a while until they get their collective heads out of there....

It only appears to freeze when you stop thinking in Russian.

Or it does something stupid, like firing missiles to the rear.

It even looks like it now also has separate processes for opened tabs. Freezing up and crashing all tabs was what made me switch to Chrome. Does freezing up now only affect one tab?

Yes.
It has been introduced with version 48 in August 2016 (but was not enabled by default) and has been finally activated with version 54 in June 2017.

Thanks Jochen, sounds good. Will give FF a chance for a comeback on my desktop.

But it doesn't support three of my add-ons - important ones.
Now What (rhetorical!)?

But on the plus side they have a new debugger that's pretty cool.

Of the three add-ons, the one I'd miss most is FireFTP. Sure - I can install FileZilla - but it's not as convenient. Unfortunately, I know I'll have to bite the bullet before long. The others, Better Privacy (SOL Cookies) and FireBug - they're sort of built in on the new version. A couple of others do have the 57 capability. There's also IceWeasel and other forks . . .

I must agree Sir! I had, after a lot of resistance, pretty much abandoned FF in favour Chrome. Now I am inclined to switch back...

Same here! Chrome has a very nice debugger but the new FF Developer edition is pretty crazy.

There's two editions? The main reason I use Chrome is for the dev tools. Simply put they're awesome. How fairs the FF side these days in that regards?

Yeah - and they went back to the tabs with blue stripes at the top - I was sorry to see that go many years back.

It does seem fast. My only complaints are that the new tab doesn't have the tiles I prefer, I lost my skins program to customize the look, and more importantly, I lost 2 video downloaders on the new version.

Hurrah ! They have merged the search and the URL bar !

The biggest surprise, however, was that the project, named Tofino, will not use Firefox's core technology – Gecko – but will instead plumb for Electron, which is built on the technology behind Google's Chrome browser, called Chromium.
And there's the reason. OK, it works for Google, because they know how to work it. Having had my fun with GitHub - cefsharp/CefSharp: .NET (WPF and Windows Forms) bindings for the Chromium Embedded Framework I wasn't particularly impressed, especially when Chrome updated its browser and it broke CefSharp running in a window on the client software. Sure, updating the CefSharp build fixed it right away, but really? Why are the two even entangled?
So, there's FM going on in Google, and I wouldn't trust Firefox to have provided all the right ingredients in the witches brew and said all the correct incantations with the right pronunciation and inflections.

Alright.. my guess.. not 100% sure, but...
consanguinity = related by blood = a close affinity
con = against
sanguin = sanguine without the end = blood red
it = "it girl" = sexy in text-speak ??
y = question
god knows where the herald fits in...
|
|
|
|
|
Well done sir, well done indeed.
The herald part fits in because sanguine (as blood red) comes from heraldry.
