I'm a bit surprised you were told no on getting a landline re-added. The last I'd heard outside of a few trial areas the FCC hasn't authorized dismantling pots voice service anywhere. OTOH both ATT and Verizon had been ripping out and scrapping the per customer hardware in their upstream DSL boxes every time a customer cancelled for years to prevent being able to bring any new customers onto their borderline unusably slow legacy services.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Did you do anything weird (edits?) with this message, for some reason I got 3 email notifications for it.

Android phones have this extra great smart feature - Audio interception.
You listen to a good Audio/Video and some spam mail hits your inbox and trigger a notification.
The phone OS very intelligently cuts down your A/V audio for a moment & plays this utterly useless audio notification and then continues with the actual A/V you were watching.
I should say, This is one of the most irritating, un-user-friendly feature ever made.
Is there a way we could put this feature to sleep permanently?

I just humbly wonder: "Disable audio notifications" completely? Or must you hear them when not playing audio?

Yes. When I'm not watching, I want to hear the audio notifications as usual.
In other words, I just want Android to just do what it was doing before. May be pre-lolipop days.
Audio notifications never used to overlap/intercept. Only the active App used to own the Audio completely.

Just edit your email notifications to not make any sound. I do that with all notifications besides texts/phone calls. It's helpful to me to be able to hear that I got a text message when I'm listening to music or something.

It would appear that this won't be answered - a pity, for it was a good clue.
