The answer is easy. Some solutions are hard. So we have to worry.

If something has a solution... Why do we have to worry about?. If it has no solution... For what reason do we have to worry about?

I think that's just a result of the job function: he has sure seen some sh*t.

Chris, I can't seem to whitelist CP on my Surface - I added CP to the uBlock whitelist, and applied changes, and the uBlock icon is greyed out, but I still don't see ads in the page headers. The same setup works fin in the desktop.
Any chance you've met this before?

Found it!
Kaspersky: stupid software.
If you have Internet Protection turned off (the default), and inside that add CP to the whitelist, and disable Anti-banner, it ignores it all and runs antibanner anyway...
The solution is to enable IP, enable AB, add your whitelist, disable AB, disable IP. Oh and swear as well ...
If anyone else gets the same thing (and it may impact articles, it did for me) at least you know!

I run vs2019 in a VM with the ms firewall blocking all in and out connections (except mysql and kms ports)
It doesn't like it, even after I open the firewall and let it update it still keeps checking for updates, and calling home, and checking repositories (even when turned off)
but it doesn't crash.
it calls home a lot, and never gives up trying (yes telemetry settings off too)
- it's not that I'm worried about them stealing my data (nothing it can see matters), just saying it's WAY TOO FAR over the top how much and often it calls home. Thers's no way they need that much info that often.

That hurts my head just thinking about it.
uBlock is evil. Sorry, but anything that actively breaks websites by doing things like removing the sign in boxes isn't fighting the good fight, it's vandalising an organisation.
/rant off.

In this case, it's not a uBlock problem, it's behaving itself pretty well. I tell it to whitelist CP, it does, all fine.
It's damn Kaspersky shoving it's unsubtle oar in there and stirring things about even when it's been specifically told in two places to butt out ...
And the same setup was working fine on the desktop without any need to whitelist CP on Kaspersky because IP is disabled. So if you get "I can't edit my article" problems without uBlock involved, it could be the big K being argumentative.

I haven’t had any crashes with 2019.

Might sound laughable at first, but this might be really useful info for scientists.
On a related note. Birds can see the north and south pole, their eyes have magnetic sensors.
