Pity that those keys are usually together too

ErgoDox, make it the 1-? combination.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

honey the codewitch wrote: I accidently hit Ctrl-X all the time

I often accidentally hit both Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V at the same time (and overwrite what I intended to copy with whatever happens to be on the clipboard), but that's me fat-fingering it. I hardly ever cut anything, whether intentionally or not.
(incidentally, the 'C' key is the only one on my keyboard that has the lettering on the top surface completely rubbed off...does that say anything about me?)

when I hit Ctrl-C i often fat finger it and hit X and C simultaneously which never fails to clear my clipboard because i always hit the C just after

So basically we have the same problem, only, I hit the next pair of keys...

Hmmm. Given your raison d'etre, I'm surprised you don't use emacs instead of the Visual Studio editor .

Hah!
My birth cry stirred the aetheric currents such that all of the code I would ever write sprang into existence spontaneously at the exact moments my fingers struck the keys.

Wonder if anybody has tried pressing Ctrl + V to see if he'd come back again?

Well, I have hit the big bucks Bought 10 $2 scratch off lottery tickets today, total return was $168.00! All I have to do is do it again, and again, and again......

Are they known as the "Stupid Tax" over there as well?
Not - and I stress this - meaning that you are stupid, just that most people who buy them are too dumb to realise the size of the odds against them making a long term profit, much less a significant one ...

Never heard them called that (not that it is not true). The money goes to a good cause, so I am reasonably okay with my losses (never buy more that $10 worth). I DID hit a $1000 ticket once, had to check it three times to make sure

No, it’s called “innumeracy tax”. We are very polite and don’t call people stupid, unless we have to 😀.

I'm from the south/mid-west US and I hear it called that all the time. Also gambling is illegal where I live so people play the lotto like it's a slot machine. Gets kinda annoying sometimes since tickets are only sold at gas stations. I just want my coffee; continue your gambling later.

I've always called it a voluntary tax. Paid by those who are poor at math, statistics and probabilities.

Yup. You only need to repeat this another 4 or 5 times (depending on your age and lifestyle), and you can retire.
Now calculate the odds of doing it...

Just makes me think back to the good old days when everything wasn't outsourced.
Now, of course, we have a special level of reliability: you can be sure there will be an untimely failure from a complete lack of quality control. Voyager 1 & 2 wouldn't have survived past the moon.
