not the first time those furry fvckers have caused issues - there was a pneumonic plague epidemic in 1911, in North East China

Probably referring to the rats or animals, but it was actually the fleas they carried that was the issue.

It's not unusual, Mongolia and China typically have a handful of cases per year. Arizona has a handful of cases of the plague per year too. In Madagascar they have/had bigger problems with the plague, with periodic outbreaks, not just isolated cases.

Actually, plague pops up here and there, rather consistently, particularly in the western US (for example).
On the page from a google search (buebonic plague in usa):
Quote: The plague, in spite of its lethal reputation, is not uncommon in the U.S. and it is usually no longer a death sentence. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the plague was first introduced in the U.S. in 1900 by rat-infested steamships. It is most common in the western U.S.Nov 25, 2019 China's main claim-to-fame, aside from a massive population, will remain their abuse of that population's human rights.

And I've got some bad news.
The good news is 2020 is now over half over.
The bad news?
2020 is only just over half over.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Mate, good point, but the best news today: 2019 is over.

I'm afraid it's only going to get worse...
Even with the many extra deaths of COVID-19 the world population is still growing.
We're running out of resources, animals are going extinct, we're polluting and destroying the environment, people are radicalizing...
At this point I can't really see this ending well.
I just hope I won't live to see the end of the world, but I'm not even sure of that anymore

I wouldn't worry. The advanced countries will probably collapse first, when the supply chains break down. The less developed countries, with their shorter supply chains, will probably last longer...

That's my point; you'll be dead long before the end of the world.

One simple solution is for people to start gardening more. I don't think we're close at all to running out of resources. If you ever drive through the US there is so much open and unused space in our country. And I'm sure other countries are similar.
The problem is people are too dependent on a system that may not be able to distribute resources, but it's not the resources themselves that are running in short supply.

ZurdoDev wrote: The problem is people are too dependent on a system that may not be able to distribute resources If the entire world lived as North America and Europe do, I think we're doomed.
Furthermore, if insects, for example, went extinct[^], we'd have a huge problem as well.
Some areas have an insect population decline of 75%, that's A LOT!
Redistributing resources won't help here.

We have only 14,6% of forests and open natural terrain
66,9% is agrarian and the rest is for housings (10,6%), traffic (4,9%) and recreation (3%).
We're telling Brazil not to torch the rain forest, and rightfully so, but we've already removed nearly all of our own forests so it's hypocritical as well.
Can you imagine if everyone did that and the entire world would have only 15% of nature?
We're also one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
All in all, I can say, don't make those same mistakes.
* I haven't checked these sources, but it's safe to say the mentioned resources aren't in limitless supply so we will run out someday if we continue to use them as we do.

We just need to adapt. Solar energy would fix a lot of those issues.
