Now, I'm a Junior/Mid Level- Senior. Still have to learn new techniques which let me feel as a junior

Speaking of paradoxes, saying you're a junior makes you more "seniory".
We should be learning crap all the time though. I know for me, eventually I want to learn some Rust and WebGPU. It has to wait until after a project of mine. Could be a year or two from now. But, we should never stop learning.

Had heard from one of my managers:
It takes 10 years to get 10 year experience. There's no fast track.

There sadly is a lot of people who are 20 years in business and still have less than 5 years experience in it.

Visual Studio 2022 only cost $40?
MSN[^]

Hmmm... tempting...
Not a subscription or anything like that?

Why is it available via ExtremeTech site?
Is MS offering the deal or someone else?
This is a very odd offering via MSN.
I wonder why they're offering it for $40 for this limited time?
Thanks for posting, but I just have a lot of questions.

I bought one copy. it looks real but not install it yet...

And not to mention, if you're a small organization... what does Pro offer that Community doesn't? And if you're not a small organization, it's not like a $350 difference matters much.

Even the paid version requires your MS account - we're using enterprise at work and we still have to sign in.

I see one extra dot...

Yes, let me go spend some money to get that extra dot

But but that extra dot isn't functionality, it's organization/team size. If you're solo or a small company... free version does just fine.

Exactly: let that organization/team buy that license - it ain't gonna be my buck
Aside: fortunately, soon there are going to be 10 years since I had to call someone my boss (excepting SWMBO, of course )

Not a lot of difference between free and Pro.
If you pay for it will it actually work?

I must be the oddball here, but for my limited needs, I find VC2022 a superb tool (the community/free edition). It might have crashed on me in some rare case, but for the most part it has been rock solid. Sorry, I cannot join the club of Microsoft bashers.

My main problem is with the designer, tools often gray out. You have to restart VS2022 and everything's fine, it's just a PITA to restart often times I use the designer.

From the VS license fine print -
Quote: Visual Studio Community is free for individuals and for organizations engaged in training and education, academic research, developing open source projects, Windows device drivers, and SQL development. See the license terms for complete details
Doesn't this imply that commercial/enterprise use of the Community Edition is not permitted?

Recehcked license terms:
Quote: a. Individual License. If you are an individual working on your own applications, either to sell or for any other purpose, you may use the software to develop and test those applications.
Anyway the only benefit I get are CP points and even those are few and of little commercial value
