This is hard work - I haven't had to use a phone for browsing, moderating, or shopping for a tablet in ages, and is forgotten how much work a soft keyboard is - even one as good as the "swipe words" one on my P30... Which weirdly seems to be Microsoft SwiftKey, which was never available on the Surface...
I want my tablet back! bwah!

Grab a little bluetooth keyboard. I use one to turn my noname 10" tablet into a fair approximation of a computer. Enough to run an editor, ssh, sftp to my server from anywhere. Beats lugging a laptop around. Battery lasts all day.

Suddenly, it will no longer charge at all, or run from external power.
I've tried two chargers, same thing on both. The little light comes on, but the battery just continues to drain. 3% left now.
Which means I need to replace it, and reasonably quickly.
Damnit! I liked that thing ...
So ... tablet with keyboard, 8 GB, 512GB SSD, ... HOW MUCH?
OK Amazon, let's see what you can do - this may take a while ...

If you have a rubber mallet, drive an awl into the charging port. Usually works like a charm. If it doesn't, drive the awl into the little light to teach it not to lie.

Take out the battery, look at the contacts and put it back in. There should be additional contacts to balance the charge of each cell, not just plus and minus. It can't recharge when only one of them has a bad contact.
If that does not work, take a wooden mallet and a wooden stake and then drive the stake through its black heart. What did you ever expect from a company that admits to being tiny and soft?

I'm on my second Paul , my advice is once they start playing up ditch them - my screen failed on the first and I got it replaced ( £200 ) then the pen wouldn't work - then I was told the battery was f*cked so replaced it ( £100 + ) then it totally died - they're great when they work but really not worth repairing in my opinion
Edit
If you keep running it off the charger the battery fries - you can limit it in the BIOS to stop charging at 50%

I'd figured that - it's all glued to the screen, so any attempt to open it for repair is likely to break it, which is going to be silly money to replace.
So all I need now is a win 10 touch screen tablet / lappie that doesn't cost more than most of the cars I've bought over the years... I'd go for a Surface Go 2, but they want silly money for the keyboard, and again for the pen... I think Ms has been taking lessons from BMW and Mercedes.

Ouch, welcome to the era of disposables - I understand it is close to impossible to fight programmed obsolescence, but something must be done to avoid wasting so much electronic devices...

I have as personal a Samsung Notebook 9. Not cheap but awesome to use. The Keyboard I like. Works very well.
At work I have the Dell foldable thingy. IT works pretty darn well. But I don't like the keyboard as much. They put the power key where the delete key should be. I end up powering off when I hit it alot.

It's not much of a problem as long as they only knock on the door. Things get interesting when they knock in the door and try to drag you out of the house.
Even the Klingons know that only fools fight in a burning house, but in Texas they never heard of that. There it's a tradition to defend your house to the bitter end, especially when the firemen seem to come from Mexico.

I think the intent of writing has also change a bit.
Earlier it was keeping things way personal - whatever the case.
Now, most of the people don't hesitate sharing about their personal life socially.
On tech side, Handful write blogs/articles about what they learn or what to share but you get very few readers.

There's a video of him playing ice hockey with pros and being allowed to score a goal. At least he skates as well or better than me, which is to say not that well. Later, he's skating along the boards, doesn't notice the carpet rolled out onto the ice, and does a face plant.
