A thing of beauty is a joy forever - but this'll do.
OK - here's an idea who's time has come - or has its time always been here: An application to install on any browser that does just what your link-page does on all pages, automatically. You know, like the images retrieved with vs. without 'safe search' on.
You have been an inspiration - now we need a developer with the proper skills.

The use case for AssemblyScript is for those who want to write WebAssembly in a nicer syntax, or in an object-oriented way. While WASM is considered a "universal target" for other programming languages, there is a lot of overhead and massive toolchain that comes with providing the source platform environment and libraries. The AssemblyScript compiler can be told to remove even its minimal OO library and just compile to the bare-spec WASM binary format; this can be orders of magnitude faster to compile, download, and--in some cases--execute.

Watt a tragedy! Joule might want to just close it before it inflames her furnace-ty remarks.
If you had a cat in heat as your pet, it may mitigate this problem.

I call BS on that one.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that no matter how high the heating bill is, if there's one thing women won't complain about, it's that it's too hot in the house.

I call BS on that. My wife complains constantly. Her internal thermostat is always set on flame thrower.

So - Apple's moving into manufacturing its own proprietary chips[^]. What could be behind it?
Did you say innovation - I'd put that low on their list.
More likely, the usual apple way of doing business: iGotcha !
All they need to do is deviate a little from the essential standard observed by Intel and AMD (and others) and you are super-stuck with apple everything. Not just their threat of voiding your warranty but just plain making sure nothing else will work.
Just wait and see.

why on earth should i care what chipset they use? as long as the device does the job i bought it to do, what does it matter how it works?
if i cared about messing with hardware, i'd get a Raspberry Pi and start electrocuting myself.

You speak for yourself - and you have.
I'm concerned with the upcoming victims of their unabashed restraint of trade. You're happy with - nay, embrace their greed - so there's nothing I can say to reshape your way of thinking.
You may be able to have the CPU in any one of several designer colors - so I understand you choice

what trade is being restrained by Apple not using Intel chips anymore?
|
|
|
|
|
Apple's policy: use our stuff and only software we authorize or we take away your warranty, for a start.
And their current assault on repair shoppes not beholding to them.
. . . that should do it, for now

what does that have to do with their use of Intel chips?
and, taking something apart to modify it voids most warranties. go ahead, take apart your Android phone and see if the manufacturer still covers it.

You really ought to read the original post, again.
And each time you jump to ever more extreme example that are, in fact, not quite relevant, starts to indicate a lack of faith in your own decisions.
Ya' know? Some people, when imprisoned for a long time, chaff at the idea of every being free as it would make them uncomfortable to have to make their own decisions.

yes, i've read your OP.
still waiting to hear why a story about Apply not using Intel chips (that's what the story you linked to is about, it's the f'ing headline for example) has anything to do with prison or restraint of trade.
or, don't tell me. i'm sure it's silly.

Right to Repair is probably behind it. Chip vendors might be telling Apple to go f themselves when Apple demands they that not sell chips to anyone but Apple.
So, if Apple is the chip vendor, they have complete control over who they chips to, namely, only themselves.

Isn't that covered by monopoly legislation*?
* I.e. ignored until they get a "rap on the knuckles" fine a fraction of the extra profit they already made

In the US, it falls under "restraint of trade". Simplistically, you can invent something new and it can take its own components - but you cannot prevent anyone else from making compatible components to compete (so long as they don't violate your patents).
The thing is, when they threaten a warranty they somehow get away with it.
