It's called "Hawaii chappal" over here - no specific idea why, though

It used to be thongs years ago, but flip-flops has largely replaced it because of the other meaning for thong.

Either "flip flops" or "things I refuse to wear".

Always knew them as flip flops. First time I wore them was in the 50's in Okinawa where my Father was stationed at the time. No socks. Rains a lot there so flip-flops for kids was a no-brainer.

As a kid growing up in Northern Minnesota they were thongs or less often flip flops. Later, when thongs covered different anatomy, they were called flip flops almost exclusively.

Highways, sidewalks, driveways etc. were all cement when I was growing up too. But, to build something that needed real strength, like bridge supports, high rise buildings and such you used concrete - a much stronger material, at least in my mind back then. For some reason I thought of them as two distinct products. Similar to the difference between cardboard and wood.

i agree. it was just something I noticed as a kid. Didn't know the real difference.

Uncomfortable. Don't like things between my toes. Flip-flops here in Michigan, BTW.

The hosting company is migrating servers, and for some reason it turns out they didn't migrate any of the email passwords so they need to be reset manually.
I'll deal with that when I've waded through the 642 emails currently sitting in my inbox so see if I missed anything important ...

I feel your pain Webhostinguk just did a similar thing to me

And the little buggers upgraded SQL server to 2019 and ... didn't migrate those user passwords either ... same fix means my DB's are working, and the regular system monitors didn't lose any data during the outage, which is good.
Gawd I hate working with support in the US: I get one email a day from a script-reading chimpanzee and have to tell them what the problem and the solution is.
Now I have to decide if it's worth updating my dev SQL server from 2012 to 2019 to match. Probably should.

Is your dev server local or remote ?

Local: it's on my desktop PC, and always has been.

Same here I use the Developer version - no restrictions and free.

I recently needed to start taking a medication 3 times a day.
Well I'm terrible at remembering that and I keep irregular hours anyway so I need to set some alarms.
I used my "smart" phone for one alarm at night with no problems.
Set 3, and none of them remain active, and sometimes they just don't fire.
See, this is super high technology, very delicate, and requires supercooled silicon to work.
Or at least that's what I've come to understand based on how difficult it is to actually make an Android device do this.
If I ever meet an Android developer in the wild, I will make them eat their iPhone.

I use Google calendar with four recurring events: one for each of Herself's pill times: 08:00, 15:30, 19:30, and 23:00.
It feeds me (Android) phone alerts and an email half an hour before it's due, and works fine - has done for years now.

I'll give that a shot. I was avoiding things like that because of the number of "moving parts" involved - more to go wrong, but it can't be worse than my current situation.

Never had any of these issues and I have 6 alarms active, some active only on certain weekdays. It may depend on the maker of the phone, Samsung is pretty good but only on their S and Note series, other not so much. I had HTC and Huawei and at least my models were absolute crap.
