Move to the UK and pay the license fee. A snip at only £145.50 per annum.

Or just seek a proxy (or vpn) provider from the UK

Good luck with that, BBC iPlayer had listed all the ones my friend could find in 3 hours.

No need for a license if you don't watch live tv(and if you don't have equipment that can pick up a tv signal)

like a PC or a smartphone with internet access? At least here we have to pay for radio and tv taxes if we got a pc or a smartphone as you can watch tv or listen to the radio over the internet...
btw £145.50 is pretty cheap.. I have to pay ca. £315.00 (462.40 CHF) per year...

Apparently not:
If you only watch catch-up services online, then you don’t need a licence. For example, you don’t need one to use BBC iPlayer, or ITV player, to catch up on programmes after they have been shown on TV.

Exactly
I have been through this every few years with the licensing authorities and I am perfectly within the law
It also takes me out of the realm of chavdom by not having a 10foot flatscreen tv.

Interesting
However, And how do they judge if you're using the pc (or whatever else) to just watch "catch-up services"? Here they just bill you because you could use it not because you actually do use it. You can't really prove that you don't watch live tv or listen to live radio on the internet, therefore you pay.
Don't get me wrong. I'm in no way defending this decision. I rarely use tv or radio at all. Least of all to watch those channels which are getting the money from this tax. So I'm just shoving my money down their throats for nothing

You have to pay the UK TV licence fee even if you don't actually switch on the TV so that is the same kind of idea.
However, when I consider what I pay for cable over here in the US and get a 1,000 channels of crap with adverts every 5 minutes the licence fee for the BBC seem super cheap and totally worth it - I miss it terribly.
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.

You can watch it here[^]. It's worth it.

I've never watched this show.
I guess I'm going to have to watch it if I'm going to hang out around here.

It is obviously a huge cultural touchstone.
Should a person start with first episode?

You'd be extremely lucky if you could - the BBC destroyed many of the early episodes back in the 60s and 70s when they were recycling tape.

If one cared too, the entire series is available on various torrents.
My personal take is that the earlier stories were far better. Special effects sucked, but the stores and characters were much better. The new stories, in my opinion, are too faced paced and short, targeting the limited attention span of the current generation.
The general (albeit not universal) opinion is that the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) is the best.

When I posted this goto statement[^] comment I didn't think it would grow as such. I think I touched a deeply controversial topic in the development world.
I then suggested on CodeProject to vote regarding GOTO and they replied on me with this old vote[^]
