C'mon, get real!

hi Ravi, if you had to choose where to live between my country & North Korea, what would be your choice?
Honestly, that place frightens me.

I agree that North Korea's dictator is as close to evil as you can get. I was poking fun at his irrational behavior. I'm also aware of Uganda's history of human rights violations. There's no excuse for that.

I agree 100% with that line, but even then the thought of life in north Korea going by the stories that normally come out from there makes me think its fair here.
For example, in Uganda an opposition politician can choose to not attend a national event in protest of some elephanting thing, they can even publicise that protest but at-least most often, they won't have their heads cut-off instantly, at-least they can expect that to happen after a few months thus giving them a chance to celebrate one more christmas christmas .

oh man i just saw that in the news, but i just took heart. do you think we(them) even have the capacity to implement that law. They pass them, lots of them but thats just how they can go, implementation is a different planet.
And in an unrelated event, sorry Maxxx_, i just copied.

Actually it's exactly the opposite. Life (if you can call it that) in North Korea is horrific.

Maybe it was a joke - based on what the government of N. Korea "says"?

I think if NK was to strike out, it would be the last thing they did for a very long time.
In fact I dont think they would be around long enough to receive the return fax that said "Is that the best you can do? You better phone a friend, we are on our way."

I also think China would ensure Kim Jong-un meets with an unfortunate fatal accident if he attempted to launch a pre-emptive strike.

There's "modern" warfare for you. If the fax doesn't work, they'll pull out THIS[^] state of the art baby

I'm not worried about this Ravi-ji, because America's ultimate weapon, Dennis Rodman is now in Pyongyang [^].
McDonald's, Burger Kings, Taco Bells, and Walmarts will soon follow, a Disneyland will be built, and all will be well.
I wish I could publish the story (fiction) I wrote about Kim Jong Un here on CP, but I fear it would cross boundaries that would collapse even a sturdy soap-box.
If you seek to aid everyone that suffers in the galaxy, you will only weaken yourself … and weaken them. It is the internal struggles, when fought and won on their own, that yield the strongest rewards… If you care for others, then dispense with pity and sacrifice and recognize the value in letting them fight their own battles." N. Korea balances disallowing free speech by its citizens by issuing a vast array of posts from the government that are completely false.

So, does this seem to be an oxymoron to you?
It seems that "Community Supported Culture" would be so much more accurate.
BTW - These are people I actually know.

What do they mean by culture?
But yes, it is an oxymoron. A cynic would argue that they're dressing up their own fundraising as a movement.

Exactly! Well said -- there's a "culture" here in my town that thinks exactly that.

Ah, sorry about that.
Mind you the only Christmas spirit I have here is artificial as well, brought on by playing Trans Siberian Orchestra "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" to get me in the frame of mind to wrap pressies and do the final food shopping lists (one for today, and one for Xmas eve - perishables only)
