Doesn't matter any way he goes is wrong.

So, with Rage being surprised at how easy it is to get yourself in Guiness World Records[^], I bet there must be some posters on here who are or have been in the book. Either named or were participants in an event that is in.
I have never been, although as I mentioned below my SIL and niece are. My parents, when at college and before they were married were both in for taking part in some sort of non-stop knitting record. They have a newspaper clipping about it somewhere.
So, who has been in and what did you do?
Edit: Just remembered I was involved in one. I went on a stag do to the rugby world sevens at Twickenham a couple of years ago where the broke the world record for most people dressed in beach attire (or some such nonsense).

Today I started an attempt to beat David Blaines record of doing FA for 44 Days in a box. So far I've done FA for 5 hours in a cubicle.

I have been part of the 50 people team setting up the biggest image(mosaic?) made of balloon. The balloons were inflated with Helium and then attached to a giant net in a field placed horizontally at about 1.8m from the ground. The picture could be seen by upper helicopter view. I can't find any pics/link, this took place about 20 years ago.
This actually turned not so well in the end, since the organizers made a mistake while estimating the drag force of the balloons (there were several thousands of them), so a few minutes after completing the image, the whole net flew away !! It was then tracked by the helicopter and this caused some disturbance in the flight traffic. It finally fell down in a forest.
But the record was validated. The balloon were all "sponsored" by people and the money went to a charity.

Call me cynical, but that's a hell of a waste of a limited resource.

I know But: 20 years ago, limited resource was not even a phrase at that time.

One of the more ridiculous records: part of a team of 4 that broke the record for most pairs of shoes cleaned in a certaion period (can't remember how long it was a long time ago). We held the record for 4 days then, as far as I recall, a troop of scouts in Times Square beat it.
One day I aspire to having a signature.

I took part in Sport Aid back in 1986 and ran the 10k in just under 50 minutes; not bad considering the numbers there. I will also say, I bloody hate that bloody Tears for Bloody Fears's bloody Everybloodybody Bloody Wants to Bloody Run the Bloody World!

You've been married a long time!
Common sense is admitting there is cause and effect and that you can exert some control over what you understand.

Quote: An underground coal fire is ongoing at a mine in Soma, Manisa, Turkey. The fire began on 13 May 2014 at a mine owned by Turkey's largest coal producer, Soma Kömür İşletmeleri A.Ş.. The fire was started by an explosion suspected to have been caused by electrical equipment. Because the fire occurred at the mine's shift change, the exact number of miners underground at the time is unknown; the number of trapped workers could be as high as 800.
[1] At least 200 people have died as a result of the fire.
[2] Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced the number of dead has risen to 232.

Take your pick:
Presidency of Religious Affairs announces that prayer will be held for Soma on following Friday in all mosques in Turkey.
Pope Francis made an appeal for prayer for the miners who died in Soma mining disaster.
Personally I'd pin more of my hopes on the mine rescue teams. Awful situation.

Me too, and it is.
Mine tragedies seem to be the sort of thing the media love to cover. Nice static location, lots of good visuals of dirty miners being rescued, plays on fears people have of being trapped underground.
