That's ridiculous.
How effective do you think it would be if that became the norm? Would prospective terrorists dress like:
0) Target groups that fit the profile because they might actually be in that group
Or
1) Respectable, "normal" people who don't.

So you've took Passenger Profiling to mean only stopping people because of the way they are dressed. You've then gone on to assume that anyone who doesn't get pulled up on the passenger profiling, will just be let on with no checks.

If the normal checks are sufficient to catch them then the profiling is redundant. If the normal checks are not sufficient then the bad guys get through them so your point is invalid.

Yes - but the stupid ones are easy to catch.
If you concentrate on only catching them, you miss the clever ones - who are capable of making a device that works. Looking for them is more important, and catches the morons as well.
I seem to remember that most of the "stupid virii" didn't work either, because the authors put loads of effort into the distribution, and forgot to learn how to code and test in the first place!

I got scanned at an airport not so long ago. I was guided into a large box where I was scanned from top to toe. Didn't realize it was one of the infamous "naked" scanners until I heard the entire security staff laughing hysterically on the outside...

I was recently took a cross country trip and in TX I was pulled over by the police. I was given some lame excuse (probable cause) and the whole car searched because (and this would be the key) I have long hair and the officer assumed I was transporting or using drugs.
As I grow older I've found that pleasing everyone is impossible but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.
