If you are self employed anything that allows you to do your job is a business expense, and therefore deductible. This includes, car, home, electric, all IT purchases, training, entertaiment, comestibles (coffee tea etc)... literally, anythnig youcan think of.

As well as getting an accountant you need to register your business (Ltd company or sole trader) with HMRC as soon as possible. If you leave it until they find you then you are in for a whole lot of trouble.

1. Work out how much you earned.
2. Count how much you've got left.
3. Send it to them.
4. Pray.

We received a small package in the mail today.
It is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, only 1/2 as thick.
When you open the package and flip open a lid a 1.5 inch touch screen invites you to start a video.
If you touch the screen a video advertisement plays.
A tiny speaker plays sound.
It has a USB connector on the side.
This is an unsolicited advertisement received via the US postage service.
I wonder how much that cost.
|
|
|

I would think it would cost at least $50, likely more.
What was the ad for? And what identifying logos/names/etc were on the video device?
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

5 - 10 Dollars, no more. Two years ago I got an advertising prospect from IBM with a small screen and video player integrated into the cardboard cover. Of course I took it apart and found the company that makes them. I can't remember their name, but I think this is really wasteful. Advertising material is printed by many thousands, each copy costing only a cent or less. Even if it costs only 5$, this is sinfully expensive and usually used to impress managers. To anybody with a brain this should have the opposite result.

Would be more funny if it was an ad for a printed book or something like that.
If its your suggestion, Id say it might be the NSA again, claiming that you don't use the Internets enough
A funny side note; Google spellchecker claims that NSA is wrong, or doesn't exists.

I took such a thingy apart and the battery looked like a small lithium polymere battery. If it was one, then shorting it out would result in a spectacular self destruct.

Who cares how much it cost, it was free to you, the important part is... have you googled it and checked to see if it's hackable?
It was broke, so I fixed it.
