Years back a co-worker was famous for his reasons for being late.
Us : William, why are you late?
William: I stopped at the ATM to get some cash; on the way back to the car I passed under a tree and a bird crapped on my head. I had to go home and wash my hair again.
Us : William, why are you late?
William: I woke up, but didn't think it was reality so I went back to sleep.
Us : Williams, why are you late?
Williams: Alex, who sits over there, rearended me on the way in.
Us : Alex, is that true?
Alex : Unfortunately, yes.

A lot of things about Halloween have decayed over the years, but one shining beacon of hope cheers me up year-after-year.
That, of course, is the custom and license for young ladies to dress ever so slutty. Even better, they have no qualms about traveling from home to party in their finery. I remember last year, in Penn Station, three witches with delightfully long legs wearing fishnets and . . .
. . . well, as far as I can see, voyeurism is all it's cracked up to be.

I love how people ask me to "fix" their logins, but somehow think I know what their credentials are--because they certainly have no idea.

Oh that's easy in this case.
I know more of her passwords than she does.
I have a hard time not knowing her paypal password, Amazon account password, bank card details...
In this case though, she was absolutely sure she didn't have, and never had have, a farce book account.
Certainly hadn't with her current email address. So that's another one of her passwords I know...

I may have heard of you on the local news. Have you been on a shopping spree recently?

These stats from the wikipedia entry on the Android OS are amazing:
Wikipedia said:
Android is the most widely used mobile OS and, as of 2013, the most widely used OS overall. Android devices sell more than Windows, iOS, and Mac OS X devices combined, with sales in 2012, 2013 and 2014 close to the installed base of all PCs. As of July 2013 the Google Play store has had over 1 million Android apps published, and over 50 billion apps downloaded. A developer survey conducted in April–May 2013 found that 71% of mobile developers develop for Android. At Google I/O 2014, the company revealed that there were over 1 billion active monthly Android users, up from 538 million in June 2013.

I love Android, but I don't think it will take over the world.
Android and Apple move in cycles. Cycles in tech advances. Cycles in popularity.
My 2 cents.

Really, I agree with you, but headlines must include hyperbole or people won't read.
I just find it interesting, because it seems as if it is a quiet movement by Android.
If these stats were Apple's or Microsoft's you'd hear them all through the media.
Also, the big deal is that 71% of mobile devs build Android apps. Amazing and a powerful way to take over the market.

Combined?
And Google don't charge for it...not even a token $1...MS, take note...
I have to say that from a user perspective, Android is pretty damn good. And it seems to get better each time, unlike Windows.

That's exactly how I feel about it. Hope they keep doing good things.

There was a time when Windows got better with every version too...eventually Android will hit a ceiling and they'll start changing things for the sake of changing things.

Not too sure about that - I remember 3.11 for warehouses, ME, 2000, Vista, Win 8...
There have been some damn fine ones, don't get me wrong, but MS does seem to take it's eye off the ball in big ways from time to time, and it often seems to be Good...Bad...Good...Bad...

Windows 95 was definitely better than 3.11 for Warehouses
Windows NT 4.0 was better than 95
Windows 2000 was better than NT 4.0
Windows XP was better than 2000
Windows 7 was better than XP (we won't mention Vista *cough*)
...there definitely were plateaus though...maybe even a couple of dips...the curve has been generally upward though.

Except for the braindead decision to make external sd cards much harder to use than internal cards... Hope they revisit that decision. (Unless they decide to make it impossible to put a file anywhere I want, internally, to make all things 'even'. And yes, I understand some of their reasoning...)

No issue with that.
iOS is only supported on hardware from one single company.
Android is supported on hardware from numerous companies.

I wouldn't want a computer or laptop running Android, just like I wouldn't want a computer or laptop running Windows 8 (which is essentially Windows Phone + bloat).

I dunno about that, to be honest.
I'd say it's down to the apps to a large degree, and the input methods. I've not tried android with a keyboard and mouse, and I'd love to see VSDroid!
But...the "full screen only" bit would be frustrating if it was carried through.

OriginalGriff wrote: I've not tried android with a keyboard
I bought a bluetooth keyboard for $15 on amazon and I was extremely pleased when I connected it to my Nexus 7. There is an alt-tab feature for cycling through apps that you don't even know exists.
My Nexus 7 feels almost like a laptop with Google Drive and Docs and the keyboard. Very cool.
I am very happy with Android OS and hope they don't bloat it up too much. It seems it's at the sweet spot right now.
Also, I've tried to use my other family members' iOS devices at times and I find the swipe, touch, etc to be non-intuitive to do what I'm trying to do. I think Android is a bit better at that.

Works great with a mouse (just plug one in, and off it goes), but I've never connected a full-sized keyboard.
I use the hacker's keyboard[^] app, anyway, which is actually better than any of the bluetooth keyboards I've seen, because it has a full key set.

It is actually Win7 + some bloat meant for phone/mobile, which made it to Win8, not the other way round. The operating system part is actually quite efficient and stable, probably the best I have ever had.
