I bought it. It seems it doesn't like ATI chipsets and my ATI in turn doesn't like driver updates (black screen from mid-installation to forever). 
I'm still showing my utter disappointment to the gods.

There's absolutely no comparison between the two.
I.e - the game sucks - the key tech in it isn't even all that impressive, a distraction more like it.
I tried it as a homage to Carmack, yet still play Doom more than Rage.
