True but the hint is "synonym for a yellow fruit", not "synonym for 'yellow fruit'"

Today.[^]
Theme is Food Safety. As a consumer, I care for the 'safety' of the food I consume.
However, through the entire chain by which food reaches my plate, how many are concerned about 'Food Safety'?

Not me; bacon is inherently "safe" under all conditions, doubly so when consumed with a suitable disinfectant, like scotch.
Will Rogers never met me.

Well i feel safe with german food standards

Well you know, when someone messes around with anything you can cross the river, so it might happen again. Keeping eyes and ears open helps a lot and knowing how to cook food to eliminate the sickening bacteria is of great value.
We had that chicken scandal and most people survived, we had the cow scandal and most people survived, well the flue kills more ppl than the pig-flue does, so yeah it could happen again but german (also eu) standards are still one of the highest (if not the highest).

HobbyProggy wrote: You beat that by a 40.000-53[^] That's not a problem with the food, which is perfectly healthy; the problem is with the morons who eat it every day.
It's a self-resolving problem, though. Darwin is happy with 40,000 a year.

Programming isn't the only job where people act professionally. People working in the food industry know very well that doing their job badly can harm people, and take that responsibility seriously.
I've known a lot of people who called themselves developers who did not show anything like that degree of responsibility.
I feel that implying an insult to millions of good people who are doing a good job is not exactly nice.

Some do, others don't.
When money is involved, some people don't give a damn what happens to whom. As long as it increases their profit by an extra $0.01 per item, they will take shortcuts.
Look at the horse meat scandal of a few years ago: it was cheaper, so it got used instead of beef.
I've visited a lot of food companies for business over the years, and there are some who are excellent (Mars, Unigate) and some that I won't even go near the packet on the shelf! Those I won't name, they can afford better lawyers than I can - but one of our sales-droids described them as "the kind of company where you wipe your shoes on the way out".
