I win anyway unless there's good evidence of why not. I'm the only one that writes code in the project. He also has only basic experience with node and only simple sample projects with angular.
I just thought the conversation was .... odd.

Sounds like your average college group project discussion.
i remember having this conversation once:
Student 1: "As for version control, should we go for Git or SVN?"
me: "School provides a svn server so we might aswell use it."
student 2: "we should use Git."
Student 1: "... and why?"
student 2: "because it's awesome!"
Try asking the lad if why i thinks async should be used asside from prefference and counter it.

I prefer the one that gives the better performance-test results, whether I find it aesthetically, egoistically, or sexually appealing or not.
If it's neither, then I, quite frankly, don't give a toss.

Only in Zimbabwe can funerals be fun! I don't think they have many alternative entertainments.

I have been reading a lot of crazy news stories lately, originating from South Africa. Maybe it has always been there in print, I'm just now noticing it...who knows.

Sadly South Africa seems to be slowly spiraling down the same path as Zimbabwe. Maybe some CPians in SA will share their perspectives?

Perhaps they now print the serious news on the back page. Possibly something to do with them being south of the Equator?
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

A woman has denied deliberately setting fire to a petrol pump ...
Yeah, that's going to stand up in court when they show the CCTV footage of her deliberately setting fire to the petrol pump.

Or anyone if you are addicted to nicotine.
I can tell you first hand. Thankfully I was able to quit.

Good for you! I quit many years ago. I was stupid to start in the first place.

Nicotine is no reason to kill. Injure badly perhaps, but that can happen without nicotine too.

So this morning - the last day of the week just before a long weekend, so a positive moment you'd think, until we all got an email from management saying "no headphones in the office"..
They've just spent millions having a new state of the art office built, all ultra-modern decked out like an Ikea catalogue with games rooms, sofas, a coffee shop and unlimited corporate slogans adorning the walls along the lines of "this is your office", "we want you to be happy", "work the way you want", and all the usual BS..
I guess whatever you want is fine as long as it's the same thing as what management want too.. this one email has probably undone a lot of the goodwill that's been built up within the company over the last few months
The stupidest thing is that I don't listen to music that much in the office, but the fact that someone felt the need to send email like this reflects badly on the attitude of management in itself.. what a way to start a bank holiday weekend.

At this point, I would push back and demand an explanation for the rationale behind this. Depending on what they come back with, you may need to push back some more.

In a smaller company I would challenge it, but this is my second stint here and I know (from experience) that the quickest way to get kicked out is to start introducing logical arguments.
